Great stain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Minwax stain for almost 25 years. I love them. I sometimes do my own mixing to get that match or special stain color I’m looking for. There is literally infinite possibilities. When I was restoring damaged furniture for this church that had hurricane damage, I used several cans of red mahogany.

True Black is truly black
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I shipped around for black stain for frames. On pine, this is hands down the best option I tried. A single coat had remarkable come rage. The frames were used in a gallery and were very well received. If you need black black, this is your stain.

Guitar Sunburst Finish Repair with an Air Brush
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I repair damaged guitars for friends, and often need to fix or replace a sunburst color gradient around the edge of a guitar top. This requires me to match the lightest color in the center, and cause it to get gradually darker, until it matches the darkest color at the outside edge of the top.
Minwax Wood Finish is perfect for this task. Perfect because it comes in a wide range of colors, and ALL of them can be mixed together without any problems. So I can spray a light color in the middle, then add a drop of the next darker color and spray again. Then another drop darker, and spray again. I mix the colors to match the original sunburst. When the sunburst colors look right, I let it dry for several days before I clear-coat it with lacquer.
I use a Binks air brush at a high pressure to spray the Minwax colors. The high pressure allows me to get a gentle mist of color that just falls down onto the guitar top, with very little volume of stain. I practice the color gradient by spraying first onto a white sheet of paper. The low volume mist gives me good control of the color variations.
See the two photos of my recent repair of a 1980 Epiphone Genesis guitar that had suffered a large hole in the top, and needed some engineering to strengthen the top from the inside. Minwax Wood Finish was the perfect finish to fix this classic guitar.

My go to stain of choice-Provincial!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been a Minwax product user since the mid-80’s when I took up woodworking as a hobby on my days off the job as a firefighter. My preferred stain is Provincial-nothing can beat its warm tones on the different species of wood I work with.

Keep a large sample (of samples) at all times!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use Minwax Oil based finishes 95% of the times when stain is desirable. My projects vary from the artsy side of the spectrum to fine furniture. I create projects based on my family (or mine) own desires so I dont know what the next project is until its time to build it. When I have completed the project I dont want to keep going back to the store to find sample colors SO I keep a large selection of samples on hand at all times.

Semi transparent vs penetrating
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new Simi transparent that are replacing the penetrating stains. are a good product but not as good as the penetrating stains. The lighter penetrating stains bring up the grain better a and go deeper into the wood pores. The Simi transparent do not penetrate as well and have to be whipped quickly or will blotch. They are a cross between a wipping stain and a peatrating. The increase in new colors are very good. I especially like the aged barrel which gives a nice antique gray finish. I he you keep the penetrating line going.

Excellent Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love Minwax products. I started out using them 8 years ago when I decided to start woodworking. The stains are true to their color, and they come in so many beautiful shades! They don't fade, and are incredibly easy to use. I suggest Minwax stain to anyone and everyone - and they are my go to in all projects - from signs, tables, benches, to commercial bars!
