Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best mitre saw I’ve ever owned. I love this thing. Fits my work bench like a dream. Cuts smoothly. Have had zero issues with binding or dust and chip build up. Easily the best saw I’ve ever owned and could not recommend it more. Not on the cheap side but you’re getting one of the most quality mitre saws on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s a beast After almost 20 years of dedicated service, my faithful DW705 finally gave up. I knew at upgrade time it would be a slider due to the back of the larger lumber I tend to cut. So far, this saw is everything I’d hoped it would be. The power is absolutely phenomenal! While I didn’t necessarily “need” it, the led cut line feature is proving to be handier every time I use it! Let’s hope it makes it another 20 years!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dewalt Replacement bought this out of necessity, my old 10" dewalt finally got kicked off the bench. needed more capacity and my old eyes need the guidance the led gives me. excellent saw, plenty of beef, many nice options. also retired a 1972 radial arm saw and was able to do so because of the slide feature of the 780. made and installed a zero clearance insert just to give me a better cut line. all in all very happy with my choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw with just one minor flaw... A little over two years ago when we moved into our new house, I retired my 23-year-old miter saw (another brand) and I started looking for a replacement. I wanted a double bevel, 12" compound miter saw to use for trim, wood flooring, and cabinet construction. I need something durable and that could be installed into a custom built 12-foot-long miter saw station with cabinets that I planned on building. Having read multiple magazine and online reviews and talking to various contractors in our neighborhood and several that work on our home, the DeWalt DWS780 kept coming up as the recommended saw. My previous miter saw had a laser cut line that would sometimes get out of alignment, but I thought I had to have on my replacement saw. The DWS780 does not offer a laser cut line but has what DeWalt calls a “Cutline Blade Position System.” There is a light source above the blade that casts a shadow onto your material. I was dubious at first but have grown to like it better than the laser. There is no adjustment. Just bring the blade down to the material and you can clearly see the kerf line. Change the blade, and unlike the laser, the kerf line is perfectly aligned. I have used it extensively on the DWX723 heavy duty stand, which is a must-have accessory if you plan on using it on a job site. I am in the process of building my miter saw station now and look forward to having it as an "installed" tool in the miter station. Now for it's one minor flaw. Dust collection. In general, dust collection on miter saws is difficult at best. The DWS780 miter saw dust collection uses a small "chute" at the back of the saw blade with a long 1 ½” tube that extends to the back of the slides and exits parallel to the saw blade. The saw comes with a bag or you can attach a 1 1/2" shop vac hose to the back tube. While the bag does collect dust, it leaves quite a bit on the bed of the saw. Using a shop vac or a high CFM dust collection system with it doesn’t do much better. The collection tube also extends the already deep depth of the tool – not an issue on a stand, but in a built-in miter station, required my base cabinets to be an extra 5” deep to account for the vacuum hose sticking out the back. A shorter tube with a 90 degree elbow that doesn’t extend past the slides would have been better, but really only affects it in an installed situation. While I would have preferred a better dust collection solution, it would not stop me from buying this saw again, but based on my experience with DeWalt quality, I’ll have this saw for the rest of my life. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent Performance I've owned this saw and stand for over 2 years now and am impressed with its capabilities and consistent performance. I have renovated 2 houses, moving the saw and stand frequently. Back to the home shop for fine woodworking. Its accuracy is dependable. Check your set up, fine tune if needed, and it will not go out of sync. It works! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
