This little box is for use with the custom case. You can just snap it in, in place of a set of bits. It'll take up 1/2 of one side.
I can't tell you how long I've wanted a box like this. There are always extra bits or extra items that I keep in my drill bit set. These are either specific bits I need or extra ones I find. Usually they just roll around inside the case and it's annoying. But with this extra box that can be snapped in I can put the extra stuff in it securely. I stuff a wad of tissue paper in there so the bits don't bang around. I got this item free as a review item but it doesn't change my opinion of it - I just find this little box very useful and exactly what I want.
