The Nite Ize LED Upgrade Kit converts most C & D (2-6 cell PR style flange) incandescent flashlights into bright, long lasting (100,000 hour) LED flashlights. It's as easy as replacing the bulb - instantly, your flashlight will emit a pure white (as opposed to the incandescent dull yellow) light, in spot to flood focus. Self-adjusting for all capacity levels, this efficient LED technology also ensures a much longer battery life, making it not only a useful, versatile improvement, but an environmentally-friendly & pocketbook-friendly one as well.
  • 55 Lumen Output (Estimated Max Lumen output only - actual performance depends on operation conditions, cells used and flashlight.)
  • Fits Most 2-6 cell C&D cell flashlights - PR Flange Style
  • Simple to Install - As simple as replacing the original bulb
  • Environmentally Friendly- Minimizes battery waste and bulb replacement waste Lighting the way for our sustainable future
  • Save money on replacement batteries and bulbs

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New life for old flashlight! Great upgrade to Maglite flashlight. Gives old reliable model new life. Light from LED bulb noticeably brighter than original one. Only complaint is that the light has slight green tint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't pass these up! Bulbs work as advertised. Extremely happy with purchase. Way brighter than standard bulbs. Will buy again for upgrading older flashlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total watts over acceptable volt inputs= unknown Purchased some years ago for Mag-lite (2D cell) and, as expected for an LED, it still works after approx. 3hrs of total use. Beam is more narrow compared to orig. incandescent. Total lumens is probably much more. At 30ft center of beam is excellent and perimeter intensity is good; at 15ft perimeter is very good. It is unfortunate that package does not show wattage consumption at range of voltage inputs. I understand it has a current limiter to protect the LED and an LED element may have constant wattage at constant (regulated) voltage, it doesn't mean the total device draws constant current (/wattage) at all acceptable voltage inputs. Product may be excellent BUT NiteIze please provide this missing info! Help us do a comparison.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't Work I just bought the upgrade for my Mini Mag lite and checked voltage of batteries -then replaced with new batteries...reversed polarity ...all to no avail. it does not work and we are sending it back

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong light source but careful with rechargeables I bought this light source for my 6v lantern. I found that the Nite Ize replacement only uses a small part of the reflector because it doesn't radiate towards the base. Because my lantern has a removable holder for the bulb, I was able to adjust the focus so it gives a bright (but funny shaped) spot at long range but morphs into a pair of concentric rings at short range. At short range, however, the non-reflected (direct) light from the LED is brighter than the reflected light and so this aberration is not a problem. The direct light is much brighter than that of the incandescent it replaces. It eliminates the need for constant scanning of the lantern at close range. I would say if your lantern/flashlight has a deep reflector (most of the reflector forward of the filament of your incandescent bulb), you will probably have better results at long range than I do. The bulb really needs to uniformly illuminate more of the reflector to form a good beam. The device contains electronics to keep the power into the LED nearly independent of supply voltage within the specified range. This is a mixed blessing. The light output will not significantly follow the battery's discharge curve. An incandescent bulb exaggerates the curve. If you're using a primary (non-rechargeable) battery, you'll find the light output nearly constant until the battery is completely exhausted - not much warning for low battery, but it's good to the last drop. If you're using a secondary (rechargeable) battery, watch out! When a battery is nearly exhausted, the individual cells generally will not reach their "must charge now" condition at the same moment. If your rechargeable battery has 3 or more cells, the light may be running on 2 cells by the time you finally notice it needs charging and by then the other cell(s) may have been charged in reverse by the stronger ones and permanently damaged. Some time ago (still using the incandescent bulb), I replaced a dead 6v battery in this lantern with an adapter that takes 4 D cells so I could use rechargeable cells. I've addressed the problem described above by modifying the adapter from 4 cells to 2. The bulb draws 245 mA at 5.2v, and 354 mA at 2.6v. That's less than a 30% drop in power, which believe it or not is hardly noticeable to the eye. It should make battery damage much less likely and lets me always have a freshly charged battery to swap in with just the 4 cells I originally bought. Max current as the voltage decreases is approx. 380 mA. I haven't put the first pair through its first cycle yet, but estimate the 2500 mAH cells should be good for about 7 hours, which is longer than they take to charge. If your application uses more than 2 rechargeable cells, I'd highly recommend making this modification any SAFE way you can before installing this bulb. Don't puncture a battery pack, and make sure you will not create a way for any part of the battery to short out. I would not recommend using this bulb with any rechargeable battery that cannot tolerate repeated discharge to below a volt, simply because there's still, in a pinch, usable light output at that level. When you start to see the light fading, charge it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from brighter light, longer battery life easy to change out, can still use focus on flashlight, didn't do side by side comparison with original because i don't have two mini mags, but seems brighter and battery should last longer because of the LED. Does not work with the IQ switch which i really like.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OVERHEATED!!! Today I used this flashlight to look at wiring in the back of a rack. When the light went out I shook it and turned the switch on and off but the lamp would not come back on. I then put it in my pocket to look at later. Five minutes later I felt something warm in my pocket and reached in and pulled out the flashlight which was now so hot I could hardly hang onto it. Guess I need a new Maglite.
