Rated 5 out of 5 by from All squirrels Will learn how to get into your feed Bought this last year. We use a two step squarl block. 1 put some sort of vaseline on pole (temporary discourage them, needs to reapplying regularly). Then I started putting Vaseline on the red metal of the feeder along with pole. After a week of getting there greased and falling off feeder they have given up. The bird were never inconvenience by the Vaseline. The squirrel chew through the plastic feeder parts (the weak spot in all feeder designs). The complaint about the spring is possibly because the squirrel is using the edges of feeder o hang on. They never had a chance to find the edges with the spring. Good luck, if they figure out how to get into feeder TAKE IT DOWN for the season and use it next year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Our birds hated it Our old feeder broke, so we thought we would try something else. We would fill our old feeder daily. We did not have to worry about that with this one, they simply did not eat out if it at all

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Springs disappear Only filled it once and both springs have disappeared. I suspect that squirrels hang onto the springs and pull them off to disappear in the grass below.
