Description
Rotella 15W40 CJ4 2.5 Gallon. Shell ROTELLA T Multigrade SAE 15W-40 with Advanced Soot Control is Shell's highest quality mixed-fleet heavy-duty engine oil. It meets the warranty and service requirements of virtually all diesel and gasoline engine manufacturers that recommend a multigrade oil. Recommended especially for all on-highway service applications, it may also be recommended for off-highway applications, especially where all-season use is desired. ROTELLA T Multigrade exceeds the requirements of both cleaner-burning new engines and earlier models. ShellÆs unique chemistry helps ensure that the oil stays in grade in all seasons and under all types of loads.

Great oil
Been using in my tractor trailers for over 40 years and over 5 million miles. Never had an oil related failure. There are newer and more expensive oils o in t there, but it’s hard to argue with success…

Best oil
Wouldn’t wanna run anything else in my truck, others oils don’t last and make the truck run a little funky. 1996 7.3

320,000 miles and going strong
I have been using Rotella T ever since I bought my Dodge RAM diesel in 2006. The truck is used on the ranch and often on rugged terrain. For years commuted from Houston every weekend so lots of highway driving. Exceptional oil for my Cummins diesel.

quieter valve train, end seal oil seepage abated
My 1979 Volvo 244 DL with 231000 km has been treated to Shell Rotella T4 10W30 since Sept. 7, 2019, odometer at 215477. The overhead cam/valve sound is quieter at 3000 R.P.M. on the 400 series highways at 100 km/h. The rear crankshaft oil seal has stopped seeping oil this year. I used to use synthetic oil. I can experience that Shell Rotella T4 10W30 oil really agrees with the 2.1 L, B21 A naturally aspirated gasoline engine. These are long-lived engines, and anything I can do to prolong its life is appreciated. Thanks, Shell engineers, for the extra protection of Z.D.D.P. for the camshaft lobes!

Stupid container sizes
Who picked the 2.5 gallon container size... obviously they don’t change their own oil. My truck requires 13 quarts... normally 3 gallons and 1 quart. Stupid

Good stuff
I use this twice a year changing out all my motorcycles oil. Never had a problem, last as long if not longer then the more expensive motorcycle oils for tappets. I can tell I need a change when the gear dogs click louder than normal. I get about 2500 miles out of a change in my old air cooled shared sump bikes. I'm sure I could go longer, oil still looks nice when I drain it. I just prefer to change it at manufacturer intervals. I then use the used oil in my mowers for a half season of more. Have one mower that's been going strong for 11 years, still doesn't smoke and starts every time. Wouldn't trust anything else in my old fleet of tappet head bikes.

Good oil, poor containers
I live in Canada and store my oil in an unheated shop. Twice I have cracked open a new 5 gal oil pale, dumped it into an engine and had table spoon sized ice chunks come out. The oil is good quality but the pales allow moisture to get in. Use a screen.
