Rated 5 out of 5 by from No regrets! This Ariens Snow Thrower is phenomenal. 14 inches deep of snow is handled easily with the thrower sending the snow 40 ft out. The wheels and tires (without chains) grip well on a 150 ft asphalt driveway with a 8% rise up at the steepest part without slipping. The turning does not require manhandling, just a gentle pull/push on the hand grips like steering a bicycle. The steel construction of the, colecter, auger and chute are durable, and the rack and pinon rotation of the chute is smooth and easily rotates.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Machine With Exceptions This machine will chew up a full chute of snow and throw it with no problems. I like the design, performance, and build of this machine except for: 1. AutoTurn is a nightmare if you have any uneven surfaces or very deep snow. As other reviewers have mentioned you will exert a lot of energy just trying to keep the machine going straight in deep snow or uneven terrain. If i could disable the AutoTurn I would. 2. The ignition key system, choke, and engine speed control are conspicuously cheap plastic parts just waiting to break on an otherwise solid machine. 3. The oil fill cap/dipstick takes two hands to put back on after removing it as it fits unreasonably tight. 4. The handles and trigger controls should be ergonomically designed to keep your wrists and hands as straight as possible to avoid strain on such a large machine. The current handles force the operator to twist hands and wrists in unnatural ways to control the machine causing fatigue. I did buy this machine because it was better than anything else on the showroom floor. To be fair however I feel I must share what I think are the detractors as they are legitimate and noteworthy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Auto-steer is a problem This would be a good snow blower except for the auto-steer. The differential causes the unit to jerk from side to side whenever it meets uneven resistance. For example, if one side of the unit hits a tire track the differential disengages one wheel and the unit pulls off a straight line. It works good with fresh snow on a clean driveway. But if you have any ice pack or bumps in your driveway, this thing will give you a workout trying to keep it straight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 Year Evaluation 2017 to 2018 is the 4th winter I am using my 30" Delux Ariens Snowblower with the 306 engine. I have used it 21 times for a total of 27 hrs. Cons: -The auger vee-belts are showing wear and there are little bits of black rubber stuck to the underside of the machine. -The plastic gas cap is cracked -I either lost the O-ring under the oil dipstick, or it was never there. The Ariens dealer charged me a scandelous $10 for a new one. -The black plastic Vee belt cover is only held on by 2 bolts, and even though I am gentle brooming the snow off the machine when finished, the ears under the bolts are about to break off. -The machine "runs out of gas" when there is still plenty of gas in the tank ??. Not a problem, but I have to siphon the rest of the gas out before storage at the end of the winter. -Bogs down somewhat in 5"+ of wet snow. -Symbols on the machine for choke position etc are a bit confusing -Wish the gas tank was plastic, steel will rust with time and the little rust grains plug the carb. Happened to my neighbors really old Ariens, and was the end of the machine. Pros -The easy turn feature is not an issue on my level driveway as I thought it might be, operating next to glass patio doors or cars. Like any other snowblower, it will be jerked to one side if one end the scrapper blade hits a large pavement crack.I hope it doesn't wear out, it makes the blower easy to turn 90 or 180 deg -It now starts on the first or second pull, when new it could easily take 6. -This machine is more expensive than other similiar snowblowers, but you get what you pay for.It still looks like brand new and I don't see any rust on it. I hope they don't start cutting corners to cheapen it. -The motor does not labor as hard now ,as when new, and runs quieter. Probably very tight manufacturing tolerances. -Solid robust well built Highly Recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Snowblowers The Deluxe 30 will replace my 10 year old 11528 Ariens snowblower. The two are very very similar to look at side by side, but when started the deluxe 30 vibrates much more. I prefer the heavy plastic gas tank on my old machine more than the all steel one on the new machine. I haven't used the new machine yet, but wish there was a lock out feature for the auto turn. Hopefully I won't be fighting the machine to stay in a straight line. I think the auto turn will work great in flat driveways with fluffy snow, but I'm crossing my fingers it will be ready for battle as good as my 10 year old Ariens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Snow Beast I got to use my Deluxe 30 for the first time today on a fairly wet and heavy 6 inch snowfall. I can't wait until it snows again. To begin, it started like my truck using the electric starter. Set the controls as directed, plug in the starter and hit the switch. It roared to life. I have 2 double wide gravel driveway nearly 100 feet long with auxiliary parking area. I was able to clear the entire area in less than 30 minutes. It took 2 passes to familiarize myself with the handling characteristics. I soon found that starting it in high gear speed will pop a wheelie! After I backed the speed down it cruised at a comfortable walking pace. Turning at the end of the pass was smooth not requiring me to manhandle the 300 pounds of machine It handled the gravel drive and slight uneven spots easily. Manually starting it was easy too with one good pull required to bring it back to life. The large pull handle was a pleasant surprise with plenty of room to get a grip with heavy gloves on. The headlight was adequate and the heated handles were nice but not necessary, at least this time out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased This is my 3rd walk behind blower. Very pleased so far. Previous blower was mounted on my lawn tractor which could not handle snow removal very well on my slightly uphill driveway. Much more pleased with this unit. Starts every time. I am now 60 years of age and I remember my Dad having several Ariens blowers when I was growing up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Heavy In The Front I've used an older 11/30 Deluxe and was impressed as to the distance that machine would throw snow and that is what I was looking for. My older Craftsman was a good Blower but did lack the throwing distance that I needed. The new Ariens 30" Deluxe I bought looks very similar to the older one I had used years ago but somewhere along the years they added the "Auto Turn" feature. It seems to work ok, but I wonder if by adding that feature, did they have to move the axle to the rear of the machine to accommodate this. The difference between the axle location on the older vs newer machine is probably 2" or more. This makes the machine quite a bit heavier in the front. When the axle was farther ahead it made the machine easier to maneuver, lighter on the shoes so it didn't dig into the gravel when the ground wasn't frozen and lighter on the handle end when you were moving it around. Also I don't see much difference in the handle construction to allow for the increased strain to pivot and maneuver this around. I think there could be cracked or broken handles over time. One other comment I'd like to point out is the size and construction of the gas tank. I think its too small for the size of the machine and what's with the metal gas tank. Aside from the fore mentioned I do think It is a well build machine... it just needs some design changes.
