Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little saw Just picked up this saw to use on my hobby farm to augment my Husqvarna 455 Rancher. I wanted to use the electric saw for limbing or smaller tasks, or when my wife wants to use it. Not having an engine running all the time is really nice. If you live in the suburbs, your neighbors will appreciate it! I used to sell chainsaws and repair them. This electric saw seemed as powerful as I would expect a gasoline saw this size to be. The trigger safety was a bit awkward at first and took some getting used to. You certainly wouldn't want the saw turning on accidentally if you pick it up by the grip, so I see the point of the trigger safety. If the batter is in the saw, I leave the chainbrake on as an added precaution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I bought this product for the ease of using a battery chainsaw. It began leaking oil within a week and the chain continues to jump off. The cut is poor quality. I will be returning to Dewalt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great idea, maybe a redesign for the tree workers. I use dewalt tools so this little gem goes well with my collection. I use this battery powered chainsaw when I climb trees or work out of a bucket lift. This saw has proven itself to me over and over. I have a 14” Oregon bar and chain and it cuts through 6”-9” oak with no problem -as long as you know what to look and do when operating a chainsaw. Example: let the chain do the work, keep a sharp chain, grease the bar nose, use light pressure when cutting and bucking motion when cutting. putting heavy pressure while cutting will stop the chain and drain the battery quicker. I have cut several canopies and even 12” pine with this saw. It’s made me money, and continues to do so. The reasons why I give this a 4 star rating when it can achieve a 5 out of five are: There needs to be an Ambidextrous trigger unlock, or even better, a grip safety like on all chainsaws. A way to add metal bumper spikes. The chain “chatters” or skips along the first contact of cutting. Especially when cutting hardwoods. Add a lanyard ring/attachment point. I use this saw to cut When I climb trees for removal. A way to attach this to my lanyard would be great. If dewalt R&D dept reads this I hope you guys do a redesign or even a new model in a top handle saw design with additions mention above, everything considered, I love it. I have no regrets about purchasing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great functionality and very Useful! I had underestimated this chainsaw - doing clean up around the property and this chainsaw has been put to the test...and hasn’t failed! It’s the perfect size to teach with as well. The oil reservoir tends to run out faster than I’d like, but it’s a good amount too as it gives me reason to stop and rest. Thanks for a great product Dewalt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful, compact I got this for Christmas from my daughters and I love it! I had no problems at all taking the major limbs off of this 17-year-old willow tree and being able to also cut it up into manageable pieces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool Bought a 20Volt pole saw. Liked it so much thought I would try this 20Volt chainsaw. Love it. If I am going to cut a load of fire wood I take my Sthil, but to cut a little brush or limbs here and there I take the Dewalt. It's quiet and efficient. No tools needed to tighten chain. You will wear down before the battery wears down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very convenient I find this to be a great little saw. Starts every time without jerking on a cord,Stops after each cut, low noise, lithe weight . Some folks complain about it leaking oil....I have had literally dozens of saws over the past many years...Stihl, Poulan, McCulloch, Homelite, Husky, and everyone of them leave a little oil where you set them down....don't put any chainsaw on the seat of your truck and then express surprise that there is an oil stain! With respect to battery life, I have had no problem in using this for trimming and getting Christmas trees. I always take a back up battery, but it has been just fine for "home use". If you want to cut a lot of large wood, I suggest the 60 volt....which I also have...which I consider comparable to any of the same size gas burners in power, and again the battery lift has been just fine with me.
