Machetes have cleared brush, and blazed trails, have chopped wood, made shelters, harvested crops, prepared meals, hunted and protected. Careful attention has been given to make sure that the weight was right and the handles were comfortable for extended use. Real working saw on the back of the blades with teeth that cut deep. Extended out of the back of the handle is a spiked tang for pounding and scraping. There are even holes in the handle to mount lanyards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like it!! Used this to clear some trails and tree limbs for deer stands. Overall, I like it and I think it works great! I find a lot of negative reviews for tools are typically by people not using the tool for it's intended purpose. This is a small machete which is very handy for small camp/woodwork clearing small vegetation. It is not going to chop down a forest or clear bamboo but for a camp tool it is awesome. Would highly recommend. Especially in the kit version. I have found all of these tools very useful for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool Bought this machete for the woods on my property, and for hunting purposes. It rides nice on my hip along next to my pistol. It keeps a nice edge. However, I wish it had a little more weight on it. sometimes I feel like im swinging a twig . All in all a great tool to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool This SOGfari is an excellent tool for many uses. For me, the size, weight and grip are just perfect. Price is very budget friendly. Well Done SOG.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite machete yet Sharing a machete with my pack for the words of been the standard operating procedure since I was in Korea with the Army Infantry. This is my favorite to date with the grip and the full length serrated edge on the backside which hasn't met it's match yet within reasonable expectations. Sog impressed me once again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for a utilitarian tool I've had this machete for a couple of years now. It's a handy tool that I carry with me everywhere next to the middle seat of my Toyota Highlander. I've used it for all kinds of cutting and sawing. It's a great value that's held up well. I just wish I could get a sharper edge on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size We live inside a National Forest where dog hobble and plenty of brush surrounds us. As we like to bushwhack a bit, the 13" machete is the perfect tool, light weight, sharp and with the saw on top, it really helps keep trails clear. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not made to chop Good for thin stuff and vegetation beyond that you will trash it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I use this machete on a regular basis cutting small trees and limbs for hiking staffs and canes. I stated "almost perfect" because the sheath could be made a little more rugged, but the machete is just right. It is plenty sharp to cut the toughest of branches (Bois d'Arc/Bodark/Osage Orange/Horse Apple) and hasn't chipped with multiple uses. The saw blade is quite useful and also cuts through easily. It is well balanced and easier to handle than the Gerber machete (in my opinion). I highly recommend it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad bad bad Tried cutting a branch and it just tore up the blade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Never go hunting without it! I bought this for clearing trail during bow hunting season. I have big hands and got a cut on my palm from the metal at the bottom of the handle so I dipped the handle in tool dip. Now it's the best lightweight useable tool I pack on the trail hunting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from apice of junk this was a gift at xmas. used it first time today, a chip the size of a nickle came out of the center of the blade, not worth sending it back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total piece of poop waste of money The belt strap brokeThe first time I put it onThe blade dented and bent on the first use SOG should be embarrassed to put their name on this with this type of quality what can I expect anything else they produce ! The tools I use in the woods keep me safe this is of such poor quality I wouldn't trust as a paper weight in the office

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good Bought it on a whim at lowes. It chopped brush pretty good right out of the box. After whacking against some pavement numerous times, it had some chips in the blade, but sharpened up good from there. Honestly it wad $30, great for that price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNK!! I bought this machete for its size, it's fits easily into my pack that I carry during deer season. First time I used it to clear a path, cutting small limbs & saplings, the cutting edge warped terribly; it looks like a slithering snake. I'm very disappointed with this product, it is useless as a machete. Don't waste your money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fruit ninja Had it for about two yearsa and it has been great. It's super sharp and light. I could chop 1" limbs in one swing. Unfortunately the blade warped on me and is mostly useless now. With I had a new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1000% better than competition Bought this after trying the well known "C" brand (shares its name with a Mexican beer). The "C" brand would not hold an edge through one brush cutting (blackberry vines). SOG breezed through multiple cuttings plus other uses over the last 5 years without having to be sharpened nor receiving any nicks on the edge. The saw teeth could use upgrading as it is hard to saw with (teeth sharpening should be in an offset pointed pattern, not just straight across.) I have been most pleased with this machete and highly recommend it. Comment: before retiring I was a professional buyer, so I'm experienced in comparing, testing, and evaluation of tools etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool for a good price I bought mine last Christmas and have used it several times. It works fine and hold its edge. Decent value tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made and sturdy! Like the features and how its made. The sheath is so-so....wish it were Kydex for a few dollars more. I will be using it on a camping trip.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke during normal use. I was using my machete to cut small trees for fire wood and the blade broke off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Handle feel off I bought this about 8 months ago and the screws holding the hand broke off and it just slides as u cut now

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT PURCHASE Took this camping and used it for 10 minutes to clean some limbs and cut up a 2 to 3 inch dead jack pine and it now looks like a saw on both sides. I certainly expected higher quality for a company like SOG.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Soft metal This is junk. Used it to chop a 1" sapplings and the blade edge bent. Straitened it, sharpened it and used it again. This time a 3" section of the blade edge cracked off. Do not buy. It can't handle the easiest tasks. Most of what SOG makes is dependable, this is junk.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from trash I tried to clear some ceder branches by my deer blind and large chunks broke on the blade. I was not abusing it just bad quality.
Date published: 2014-12-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional tool I purchased one and it has probably been the most abused tool I own. It's been used as a hammer, prybar, saw, brush cutter, and kindling cutter. It has held up exceptionally well to all the abuse and was well worth what I paid. The only qualm I had was the blade coming out of it's setting in the handle, but even that only happened after years of daily use and was easily fixed with a pin.
Date published: 2014-11-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer beware Purchased this item because of SOG's reputation for quality and the "feel" of the tool. Grip and balance are very nice. After 1 day of clearing brush for deer stands the blade had failed. Cheap steel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had for 2 years and no problems I have had my Sogfari for 2 years and use it two cut willows and other tree limbs to make blinds for Duck hunting. I haven't had to sharpen it yet! Slices through them like butter! Could be a little heavier duty for some of the larger limbs and trees I cut but bought a Kukri which seems to do the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Overall Machete for Light Duty Bought this about a month ago to use at our annual camping trip. While it has some difficulty with thicker brush, it works fine for lighter duty applications, and the saw works well.
Date published: 2014-11-12
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lightweight This Machete is light weight. It handled just about everything i tossed at it. It is light weight. The blade nicked real easy which was a bad thing. The blade was able to be resharpen however the nick was still there.
