20 Second Installation
While replacing a washer in a leaky outdoor spigot, I cracked the faucet handle. In trying to remove the spigot, I broke the connection between the spigot and the copper water line. Googled how to repair this and stumbled on SharkBite couplings. Was able to purchase the SharkBite connection I need locally. Had to remove stucco around pipe to access it as it was flush to the exterior wall. Was able to use hacksaw to square off end of pipe and a Dremel bit to sand the edges smooth. Wrapped spigot connection threads with teflon type tape, inserted coupler over copper pipe, attached spigot to coupler, closed spigot to check for leaks. Not a single drop of water. No leaks when turned faucet on with hose attached to it. While I am not looking forward to future plumbing repairs using SharkBite connectors will speed things up considerably.
