Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well I was hesitant to buy this product from the reviews I read, but it was one of the only products Menards had in stock so I went with it. It's a water consistency which makes it easy to spray. I used a pump sprayer and it went on evenly. Our deck is about 200 square feet and one bottle worked on the entire deck with none left over. By the time I finished spraying the deck, the side I started on was ready to be rinsed. We don't have a power washer, so I used a hose on the highest setting and it worked well. We used a cleaner instead of a brightener to finish it off, and the cleaner honestly got even more of the old stain off that wouldn't come off with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Not sure why there are any negative reviews, unless the product was misused. This is a fantastic product! Works as advertised, and does a knockout job! Just check my before, during, and after photos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK results I have a deck that gets partial sun. As a result, it wears unevenly. I originally used a Cabot oil-based sealer which lasted about 2 years. Instead of using the same product, I went with an oil-based Olympic stain/sealer, after only pressure washing the deck. I got maybe a year out of that. After several years, I finally decided to get rid of the coatings and start over. The Cabot remover did a reasonable job, but it did dry out quickly in the sunny areas. I rolled it and followed with a stiff deck brush, and it left quite a bit of the original finishes. After I ran out, I purchased a citrus-based remover to go over those areas. Although it did attack a good bit of the remaining finish, it was a real mess to remove. In hindsight, I believe the Cabot product was better, but I think you need to: 1) apply liberally (the stuff is quite thin), and re-wet as needed, and 2) leave it to dwell for maybe an hour or more - keeping it moistened.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stripes left after stripping The areas where applications overlapped have left dark stains that remain after sanding. How can these be removed?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stuff around We have a log home that was in need of restaining. No idea what sort of stain(s) the previous owners had used. Got some of this product in a lot at an auction for a paint store that was closing its doors, then bought some more at the hardware. This stuff is amazing. Make sure to shake it up really well before putting in your sprayer, it tends to settle and get glops. Also, make sure to wear goggles and cover all exposed skin, the stuff will 2nd degree burn easily. I let it set for about 45 minutes and by the time i went back to power wash, the finish was running off in some places. It didnt seem to have the same effect on the painted window trims, not sure what sort of paint they used. I may try leaving the product on longer and see if it removes the paint that way. Bottom line, if you need to remove stain, this will do it!! As another reviewer noted, it is super slippery, so be careful, and be sure to rinse well and neutralize.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great but needs time Used this on my 29 yr old cedar garage door to remove stain/varnish. After 15 minutes not much action; it took about 4 hours to work then the old stain/varnish came off easily with a power washer. Very important to apply starting at the bottom and working your way to the top of a vertical surface. I have a couple small spots that I need to reapply then moving on to the wood brightener. Very pleased - this saved a beautiful wood garage door. Very reasonable $ compared to other products :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cabot stripper works great! ...BUT... Purchased a home last year with a very nice custom deck western red cedar... Though it was looking a little bleak, the deck itself was well sealed but needed reviving and well just some more pop of color... While the Oil stripper does work very well the way it is I found out fast that the coverage was somewhat poor... If you can imagine trying to push corn-syrup on a 40 degree day through a squirt gun that is about the consistency when pushed through a decent hand pump sprayer... While this may be fine for some, I found that when you have 200+ spindles to strip it become very time consuming and found that I was wasting more product than actually using it... There had to be an answer somewhere... So I called Cabot direct and asked them "why can't this water soluble stripper be cut 1:1 with water to have better spraying coverage when it plainly states it's solvent base is WATER"... First I got a general Q&A operator for residential support... they could not explain why, so he transferred me to the contractor dept and again they also had no explanation as to why you could not so they transferred me to their technical dept to filed the question... and so yada yada yada... and in the end it boiled down to this... YES YOU CAN DILUTE THIS PRODUCT 1:1 EASILY! ... The only con is while it dilutes the effectiveness to a degree BUT if you keep your project well misted you can easily cover a far larger area (VS: the 1 gallon specifies) easily and it works as well as the product not being cut 1:1 with water... the PRO's? If you have a bazillion spindles to do it not like trying to push tooth paste through a tube onto each spindle, you can also pus it out of the sprayer much easier as well as cover many more spindles with less spraying/coverage effort and then simply mist them LIGHTLY to prevent the product from drying, Working by myself I was easily able to lengthen the stripping effectiveness to well beyond the instructed 15-30 ins working time to easily well over 1 hour... And once you begin power washing it removes everything in the exact same manner as just as if you were not cutting the product 1:1... This is an awesome product the way it stand BUT, rather than big giant letter that state "DO NOT DILUTE WITH WATER" in bold face type, they should state facts for certain situations... Will I use this again? YES! ...Would I recommend this to a friend? YES!
