Rated 1 out of 5 by janmcc from Has This Product been Changed? I have been mixing my own stain color for the last 15 years to match aged knotty pine in my cabin. Three parts natural, one part English chestnut worked beautifully and let the wood grain show through. Now, with the cans marked "semi-transparent, Dries in two hours" it goes on VERY orange and covers the wood grain like paint. Totally ruined a project trying to match the previous mixture. And yes, I set a timer and mixed it with a paint stirrer for ten minutes. I have never wiped it off in the past and wood grain showed perfectly. No idea how I will deal this, may have to switch the entire project to paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by KC1234 from Not a fan Puritan Pine stain is red and never on any documentation is that the representation of the color of this product. Instead of being a natural looking yellow pine, it is red. This ceiling is ruined.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robl1118 from I love this product! Need I say more! I used 3 coates and sand between coates. I use 220 grit sandpaper between coates 1&2 and 320 grit between coates 2&3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveLS from Red Chestnut I’m using Red Chestnut on pine stair treads (probably paint grade) and it is really beautiful. Sometimes it appears blotchy but I find it blends nicely in about 24 hours. I have used water based polycrillic over it for the low odor but I’m going to try polyurethane on the next project because it is smaller so it can stay in my shop for a week or two while the odor subsides.

Rated 1 out of 5 by becky from ebony is pure black and won't dry the ebony is not what is pictured at all. And, it is still rubbing off days later. It does lighten up a bit, but is still nowhere near what the picture on the can shows. It's a totally different category of color. And, I've read all the tips on the minwax site, and I've done everything mentioned, but I can't use this piece now as the stain continues to rub off every time it is touched.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jfyan from Awesome product to use with great results! This is STILL the only brand I will use and have been using it since I was a kid in wood shop in the early 80's. Three coats of poly is next and what used to be a sauna in the basement will be a functional shower. Thanks to Minwax for staying true to quality first!

Rated 5 out of 5 by alywill from Great Coverage [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just used Minwax Wood Finish to seal my new bathroom door. It Has great coverage and the color matched perfectly on the door to the cabinets that we had ordered. It only took two coats to seal perfectly and we were able to have it cured in such a short amount of time. I recommend to anybody such an easy product to use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bubdad from Nice wood stain [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently sanded down my wood mantle and did a new stain with this Minwax wood finish. I have always used Minwax and like that there is a good color selection for my projects. I applied with a rag and wiped off the excess as needed, it went on evenly and a little goes a long way, this jar will last many projects. I ended up doing 2 coats total and only waited 2 hours between application. The end product looks very nice and professional and it was convenient that the dry time was so short. Great product.
