Manufacturer Name SCOTTS MIRACLE GRO
Rated 5 out of 5 by from ALTERNATE USEAGE ---- KEEP COOL THIS SUMMER I make a summer cooler for myself, family and friends by taking a 3" strip of 45" fabric and sewing it into a tube with a 1/4" seam alllowance (leaving a 2" opening at the CENTER to turn the fabric tube). Then sew across the tube 15" from each end AFTER turning it inside out. Feed 2 LEVEL tablespoons of MIRACLE-GRO WATER STORING CRYSTALS into the remaining CENTER third of the tube, and carefully sew the last opening tightly closed. It seems like a small amount of crystals, but remember, each tiny crystal becomes HUGE after getting wet. Wet the tie in cool water for a few minutes -- I set it in the sink covered with water and you have a FABULOUS tie for use in hot weather (I live in Arizona). My neighbor carries a lunch size hard cooler with ICE WATER in it to refresh (he alternates 2 ties) them during the day. He works outside, and finds it much more comfortable with this ability to keep himself cooler all day. They can be dried out if you live in a climate where it wouldn't be used in the winter. Just make sure that it is completely dry befroe storing. When dry, the crystals will dry into hunks, and then become brittle, and it can be moved around and broken back up into crystals again.
