Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just walk away The only good think about this smoker is the price, and even then it's not worth it. Whoever designed it didn't give any thought to assembling it. There are several tough spots to put together that could have easily been engineered better. One of the worst is the legs. Make sure you have a stubby Philip's head screw driver to get those screws tight. The smoker door is also bad. I had to make some serious changes to get it to close properly. Despite all that, I still had hope it would function well. NOT! It's impossible to maintain a steady temperature, even plus of minus 5 degrees. And when the pan runs out of water the temp spikes quickly by 50 to 75 degrees. Even at medium heat, that means refilling the pan about every 40 minutes. And be careful not to put the flame out by spilling water when you slide the pan back in! I tried adding water to my foil drip pan at the bottom but that didn't help. Bottom line, this unit will be at the curb as soon as it cools off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So simple to assemble and to operate I just got it two weeks ago and I’ve been smoking something just about every two or three days. I love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not good. I just bought this product. It has several dents in it. That I can kind of over look. But the legs are the worse and the screws strip easily. The temperature gage is broke. And the clean tool not there. The box was damaged so I don't know if that is where dents came from. Just can't keep temperature up 225.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Backyard Smoker I have owned several Char-Broil vertical smokers over the years. They hold up well and have a descent life expectancy. If there is a weak link it is in the gas regulator. It requires more flow on windy days!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent little smoker I traded my electric smoker from Cabelas for this one about 4 years ago. I have smoked a lot of fish in it and a few sides of bacon. I am very happy with it! I use a separate pan on the bottom rack for water. I put just wood chips in the smoker pan, no water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product for the money I bought this smoker 4 years and I didn't want to spend a lot since I had zero experience smoking. This smoker is a very nice product for the price. Plan on keeping it a few more years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from People are using it wrong! works beautifully. does not get too hot so no need to worry there. The biggest thing was the water was gone in no time. Then read the Manuel page 6 Put the wood chips or chunks in the bowl not the water! water goes around the wood chips. LOL was funny how many was doing it the same as us. WRONG WAY,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SMOOOKIIIN I love this smoker! It assembled very easily and all of the nuts and bolts were separated in a bubble flat. I only needed a screw driver and one socket on a ratchet. Once assembled I tested with just the propane and it worked quite well. It was Thanksgiving day so my first smoke was a turkey. The water allowed for only a 200 degree smoke. After a few hours I put it in an oven bag and baked it in the oven for 2 hours and the turkey came out perfectly. If you forgo the water and wood chips it will heat up to 350 which will bake any meat to perfection. If the electricity ever goes out it's a great back up oven. I highly recommend this smoker, it is a great value

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissapointed Bought this two days ago, assembled it and decided I would keep this thin walled un insulated smoker and modify it for the harsh michigan winter. Unfortunately I threw some wood chips in her and fired it up, temps reached 375 impressive and the low flame is perfect for the slow and low guys/gals, then came the smoke. I smoke in the garage with a outside chimney attached to a flue so smoke passively rises up and out. The chimney sits above the smoker about 2ft. So no direct attachment. But ....most my smoke never even rose upwards, nope, just poured right out all along the door seal. There is no seal around the door just steel on steel. Tighest fit by hinges the as measured 1/8 gap opposite of hinges. Sigh why not throw a 5 buck gasket kit on the door? Not to big of issue but come winter the heat loss will be much greater costing more in fuel to keep it regulated. As it is, I will have to get a heating blanket or use fireboard around it to even out temps this winter but the door I can't and now the door leaks like a sieve...dissapointed

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just spend the extra cash. I struggle to keep temp higher then 175 with this smoker, I had to modify it quite a bit to get the temps higher and adding water in the water pan is out of the question. I had to make my own water pan for it to keep around 210. Even with 80-90 Degree days it's just not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy use and clean up. Gas makes life easier. Don't have to get up super early to start the wood for smoking and get it the right temp

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great capacity First smoke I did 2, 11 pound shoulders. 4 racks of spare ribs. Would have gave it 5 star yet clean up was horrible. When seasoning the smoker it leaked oil sprayed in cabinet all through the legs and onto my concrete patio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over all great design I have used this smoker now for about a month. Everything comes out great! The only issue I personally have with it is the water pan design, it goes through a pan of water in about 90 minutes, this means I really can't do errands etc while the smoker does its work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Price Great price on this smoker. Its not built as well as the masterbuilt its replacing, but for $90 I'm not gonna complain. Ours came with an ignitor that was missing the connector pin. Charbroil replaced it without issue. Warranty service said they would only replace parts for free within 30 days of purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First time smoker purchase After my first time using the product last week I would have to say I am overall happy with the smoker. After doing a good amount of research before purchasing the product I learned that I would rather use a gas smoker rather than charcoal for my first time to get a idea of how to smoke meat in general. Some positives include the easy accessibility to the water/wood pan without causing temperature fluctuations, the large amount of space inside the smoking chamber and the consistent temperature provided by the BTU burner. However, the lowest temperature setting (although consistent) seems to run a bit high leaving no choice but to leave the temperature at its lowest during the entire smoking process. Also, the water in the water pain does in fact burn off pretty quickly causing it to be refilled about every 2 hours or so. This then requires constant attention to ensure the temperature does not rise after the water has burned off. Therefore, I recommend copious amounts of beer and friends while smoking to keep your mind off the pesky maintenance. Overall, I found the whole process of smoking fun and entertaining from start to finish, especially the juicy/tender rack of baby back ribs we enjoyed after it was all done. Bought the smoker on sale, however, I would still recommend to friends for the original price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent smoker but has some downsides We bought this a couple of weeks ago but were not able to use it until yesterday. The first downside we noticed after putting it together was that the legs on it are not the most sturdy and seem like they would break off very easily if it is moved around much or if you aren't careful moving it. Upon using it, we did a variety of meats - sausage, chicken, wieners, and hamburger patties. The second downside is that we felt like it needed more than three racks in it. We could have used another one for sure and possibly two. There is enough room for them so I don't know why they only included the three. It limits how much you are able to put on there at once. The third downside is that water boils out of it quite quickly and needs to be refilled often. The fourth downside is that the temp is off a little. It seemed to burn a little higher than what was showing on the gauge. One of the things we did like over the last smoker we had is that the water and wood chip area is in a drawer that can be pulled out and filled instead of opening the door every time. That is a great feature! The other thing we liked is the thing on top. When some of our meat was done, we put in in a foil lined and covered pan and set it up on that and it kept it warm until the rest of the meat was done.. Another great feature of this one! Overall, we're happy with it. The biggest downside for us is not having enough racks in it and would like to have more.
