Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing results In May my lawn was suffered a lot of damage from the winter. There was hardly any new grass coming up and the only thing that was growing were weeds. I was going to give up since we hardly did anything to our lawn , and it would cost a lot to re sod. I did some research and decided to seed my lawn with the best seed on the market and hopefully that would make a difference. So I bought a bag your Scott sun and Shade coated seed as well as the starter fertilizer. I as well got rid of the weeds, raked, dethached, applied Scott’s grub control, got rid of the ants with liquid raid , and trapped the chipmunks that were creating holes in my lawn. Then I applied about 50 bags of topsoil on my lawn. All of this made a difference , since now my lawn was ready to be seeded with the Sun and and Shade coated seed. Also what is very important is that after I seeded , I watered my lawn every day, sometimes twice if it was hot, early in the morning , then at night. At first it didn’t seem as if the seeds were germinating, then there were little sprouts coming up in areas that I had long given up years ago. I also didn’t apply the starter fertilizer at first since on the bag it said to apply 2 weeks after you seed. I reseeded, my lawn 3 weeks later, applied some topsoil to some patches that were not growing as fast, then I applied the stater fertilizer. Now my lawn only has a few small bare patches. I am a pleased with theresults. I never thought that my lawn would recover this year. I think that the key to success with this product is to follow the steps. You can’t expect results if you just throw the seed down. Think of your lawn as a plant. Will it grow well if you don’t water or fertilize it ?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SCOTTS RUINED MY LAWN!! I purchased these grass seeds 6-8 weeks ago and applied them to a clean slate area where I had previously killed the grass and weeds in preparation to start fresh. This is a new construction home and there was minimum grass or weeds as it was predominantly hard clay-like dirt filled with pea gravel. I added new dirt from a landscape company, followed the instructions on the seed bag, watered day and night and the end result is entirely crab grass. Being new to yard work I did believe from the beginning that it did not appear to be grass and began to research online only to find out that although green and fluffy, the entire side of my home is crab grass in addition to the few places where I added the seeds to fill in thinning high traffic areas on my front lawn. I am very sad, disgusted and disappointed as a lot of care, water and time went into this project and now I do not even know what to do...there are too many to pull so it appears I will need to completely start from scratch. I planned to have an Open House in the yard for my 2020 high school graduate (who was not able to have prom or a graduation) in the yard to allow social distancing but under these circumstance I will need to find an alternative. Very Disappointed!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crabgrass We had some new landscaping done and needed to repair some areas in our lawn. Used this product in all of these areas and now have crabgrass in every single area that we planted the seed. We purchased 2 20lb bags so, not only an unsightly mistake using this product but, a costly one as well. Very disappointed and frustrated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What the heck kind of grass is this??? I have faithfully prepared soil, starter fertilized and watered for 28 days. What has germinated is something I can't even identify. There is about 50% fine grasses (good) and 50% two bladed short ?grass that I have no idea about except I believe it is NOT rated for Zone 5. Poor product. Likely will need to buy some Pennington.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Grass Grew In Some Areas I put topsoil in many areas throughout my yard. I spread both seed and starter fertilizer down and only about half the areas has grass growing after two weeks. I followed the directions on the bag and didn’t get the results that I expected. I watered the areas nightly. I guess I will wait until the Fall since it is had to get grass to grow in the hot summer months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Started with no grass 3 weeks later I have grass! It's been 3 weeks I started with no grass just poor dirt. My 2 dogs destroyed my lawn, I amended the soil and put a bag of scouts down with a spreader covered the seed with about an inch of more soil watered heavily and now have the beginnings of a beautiful lawn. I live in the southern California desert zone 9. Planned this the first week of June. Area is part shade and afternoon sun.
