Worst tripod sprinkler I've ever used.. junk
This is the worst tripod sprinkler I've ever used.. pure junk. Worked in first section when I bought it, then moved to another area and hose blew out! The connectors are made of a very low grade cheap plastic which doesn't hold up to the pressure and the brass hose fittings. Finally got that part rigged to hold using quick connects, but the fitting to the tripod leaks/sprays all over. This should not be sold to the public.

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE
I purchased this from True Value a week ago and began using it 2 days ago when watering my back yard, one half at a time. It worked fine in the beginning but when I moved it to do the other half, after turning on the water, in a matter of seconds the sprinkler head blew off and I had a geyser. I replaced the sprinkler head and it worked fine for about 30 minuets when the timer shut down the water. This morning I moved the tripod to the front yard to again divide the hard in half and do each half separately. I had, once again, put the head back on the tripod, turned on the water and less than one minute later we had another geyser. After 3 more attempts to correct the problem and 3 more geysers I gave up, leaving me to use my older sprinklers to finish about one quarter of an acre front lawn to water.
Another complaint I have about this product is the feet of the tripod. In the instructions it says to plant the feet firmly into the ground; Each foot has a spike type extension for this purpose. The problem is that if the ground is hard there is no way you can insert the spikes in the ground as they are made of a relatively soft plastic and will bend with very little force. In my back yard I had no problem but in the front where is was dry and the soil hard I had to improvise by using a tent spike and hammer to make a hole for the spike to fit into.
Seems to me the entire foot, including the spike should have been made of a strong metal and not some cheap plastic material that will cause the spike to bend with the slightest resistance. I cannot recommend this product and will return it today to my local True Value store.

Best sprinkler I could find
I tried similar tripod lawn sprinklers. The one offered by True Value is the best of the lot. It it's also so much better than any of the sprinklers that lay on the ground. Compare the sprinkler heads on ground vs tripod sprinklers. You will see the quality difference. I also like the spikes on the bottom of the tripod legs. They give stability. The 5,800 sq feet claim on the box may be exaggerated but on level ground it will cover approx. 20 feet out in all directions. I planted new grass and first tried ground sprinklers. The tripod sprinklers cut the time spent watering my yard by 2/3. I can't ask for more than that from a sprinkler. Pricey but worth it.
