Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny! I purchased this item right after aquiring some property that included seven fruit trees. Immediately upon using the pruner I was amazed at how such a light tool could cut branches so cleanly and yet with so little effort. This tool is so light that my arms never became fatigued while using it. Even after a decade the blades never lost their sharpness. But a friend wanted to try out his diamond sharpener, so I let him sharpen it up. As with all pruners the blades need to be cleaned when moving from one tree to another (to prevent spreading disease). But the coated blades were a sinch to clean with just a diaper wipe. The only thing that shows any wear is the woven flat strap that runs inside the pruner. Initially I was concerned, but it is just surface scuffing. Operating the tool is simple regardless of the angle. You can use either hand too. Simply pull on either the sliding grip in the middle of the pole, or the ball at the end of the pole. I've found that my hands naturally hold on to the pruner in these locations. This makes using this pruner very intuitive. I know that there's always something cheaper available when looking for tools. But the design of this product has reduced the amount of time and effort pruning all of the apple, cherry, pear and peach trees on the property. And my shoulders and arms are not fatigued and achy when I'm done - which is what happened with the tool this pruner replaced. I'm confident that this pruner will last at least another ten years. Kudos to the design team at Fiskars for creating such a wonderful tool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best pole pruner yet I have been using this pole pruner on and off now for 2 months, pruning fruit trees and other trees and shrubs. Within its limits, this is an excellent tool. I like how the head adjusts in about a 300 degree arc, making it easy for me to make a clean cut from almost any angle. The adjustability plus the compact head (compared to a regular pole pruner with its pulley - lever system) makes it much easier to maneuver in tight spaces such as between branches. I also like how I can cut with the pole close in, or with my arm fully extended, because there are two pull cord locations. I rate it 4 out of 5 because I don't know how well the plastic parts will hold up, and it has somewhat less leverage and strength than a regular pole pruner -- I know, buy a pole saw. But I have recommended it to several people who also like it, and look forward to using it over the next months of fruit tree pruning.
