Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cordless drill I've ever owned. Great tool for home DIY projects. Very powerful for its size, but the batteries last a very long time. I've had it for three years now, and don't expect to need to replace it for many more. When (if) that time comes, I will be back for another Milwaukee product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful drill! I purchased this drill a number of weeks ago. When it arrived, I was surprised as to how small it is. I charged one of the batteries. As a test, I pulled out a half inch drill bit and drilled into a block of hardwood, three and half inches deep. It went in like aknife into butter! I was impressed! My previous drill was a 12 volt Craftsman and on its best days, never performed like this Milwaukee. I have used the drill on a number of projects and thus far, I am very satisfied with the results of the research I put into this purchase! If you are shopping around for a good value at a moderate price, your search has ended right here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect workhorse After using the M12 for two years, I can say the power is ample, the batteries last a long time and charge fast, allowing continuous duty. The compact form gets you into tighter spaces, and allows easy holstering (or the handy belt clip) for working on ladders, or climbing around roofs & scaffolds. It's the perfect all-around construction cordless, and the price is amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact, Light Duty Drill I've had this drill since 2012 and it's still alive. I do have the older aluminum gear case, though. This drill is not made for driving wood screws longer than about 3". It could use more power. It preforms well where a full-size drill can't fit. I mostly use it for light tinkering around the house and it satisfies. When (and if) this drill fails, I'm upgrading to the 1/2" hammer version with an XC battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bang for you buck i bought this after my previous will not name brand drill decided to catch on fire after a sever malfunction, its solid in terms of performance and durability i use my drill everyday at home and at work, and it never lets me down what really sold the product for me was the shop i work at they all use Milwaukee some of there stuff is more than 5 years old and is used heavily everyday and keeps on going its one thing being told something is reliable but seeing it everyday is another and that is why i will never go to another brand !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value This is the third cordless drill I have owned. The technology has gotten amazingly better. The last cordless drill I had, the batteries took forever to recharge. The M12 takes about 20 minutes, and they last and last. This compact 12v drill has more torque than my old 18v. I've had the drill for two or three years now, and am very impressed with it. I do much drilling of wood and some metal. I do lots of screw driving. I use it to drill pocket screw holes. I like the compactness of this drill. My only "complaint" is that I would have liked a half-inch chuck. I have never had any problem with the shifting of gears. I follow the directions, and wait until the drill has stopped, and then change gears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this drill again I like to work with good high end tools, such as Milwaukee tools. I wouldn't want any thing else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great until it broke. This little drill/driver worked great for a couple years of solid use but broke when shifting gears. Pulled it apart and found that it has a couple plastic gears along with mostly metal gears. Maybe there is a design reason for the plastic shift gears hopefully other than a shorter service life. I liked it enough that I bought the same basic drill/driver but the hammer drill version. Hope this will have a longer service life. Also note that the operators manual say that the drill should come to a complete stop before changing gears. I never was able to get it to change gears very well. The gears didn't seem to mesh well when changing from one speed to the other. I would recommend this to a friend but that recommendation would hold a caveat.
