Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries die after one season Black and Decker replaced batteries, but still a huge hassle for an expensive lawn mower. Steer clear and buy gas mowers until they get the quality higher

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very good... then very bad. I bought this lawnmower about two months ago. I used it twice, it was great. Then when I used it the 3rd time it kept turn off on me even if I was on the sidewalk. I charged the batteries and now it won't even turn on. I should have stuck with gas. If I shake the lawnmower it will turn in for about 1 sec then turn off. That was a waste of money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Batteries not holding charge anymore I’ve owned this product for just over one year and am really happy with the cut. However, I used to be able to cut my entire lawn without having to recharge the batteries. Now I have to stop and recharge the batteries twice. Instead of spending an hour cutting the lawn it is now taking me all day while I wait for the batteries to charge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very displeased with this product! IT seams you cannot stress the motor at all! Battery is drained!spend more time charging batteries than mowing

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not made to last I purchased this mower 10/1/22 and it stopped working 6/25/23. When I start the mower, the red battery sign on the mower lights up as if the batteries are dead. The blade will start to spin slowly and then stops. However, both of the batteries show fully charged on the chargers, as well as when pressing the battery test button on the pack. I am not sure if the issue is with the batteries or the mower itself. Since it’s less than a year old I’m trying to send it back to Dewalt. Mower was stored in garage and batteries inside my house.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not up to Dewalt standards Bought the mower as a year-end closeout in 2021. Used it sporadically during 2022 as a trim mower to get into a couple places my 61" Ferris ISX800 won't fit. After a few uses this year, I have a dead battery even though it shows two bars - won't charge and won't power other 20v tools. The mower works when using other Dewalt batteries, so it isn't an issue with the mower itself. The charger is fine with other batteries. There can't be more than 5-10 total hours on the mower/batteries as I only use it for about 10-15 minutes at a time. For the cost of replacing the batteries, I'll just by a Honda-powered gas mower. Was hoping to swap to the full line of battery-powered Dewalt outdoor tools, but given all of the battery issues, I'll go with Stihl if I ever attempt to abandon gas again... The mower itself is OK for trimming or very small yards, but the battery issues make it a terrible overall value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries Die Wuixk I received this mower as a gift as we just purchased our house! I have only used this mower since around March and the battery life seems to get shorter and shorter. This last time I put in the batteries to mow and I made it about one strip and the mower died. Putting it on the charger the batteries were dead. NOT sure the issue but I’m so frustrated

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice lawn, worthless customer support I love this lawn mower, the problem I have is it was faulty out of box, the rear axle was pressed I correctly and would not hold height adjustment, "limited 3 year warranty" garbage, tried to make me send my entire lawn mower through ups to make a warranty claim. It was a manufacturing error, all I need is a correct rear axle, and all I got was a run around, I wouldn't recommend dewalt lawn mowers to anyone I know, due to the simple lack of support. My tool is not broke, the axle was assembled wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazed Love this mower!!! We have a 2/3 an acre and this mower almost does it on one charge. I just finish the last little bit with my 4AH batteries from my DeWalt pole saw. This mower is impressive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not buy Bought last year. Worked well except when hot outside it did not seem to want to start. After 15 minutes in shade, seemed to work. Used perhaps 5 times. Cut well when it worked. This year have used it 2 times. Now it won’t start at all. Can’t find any reason and no suggestions from anyone. Worst waste of money

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New homeowner 75x85ft yard Bought the DEWALT Electric Lawnmover DCMWP233U2 Easy to set up, was able to put together in about 15 mins or less. Very easy. I charged the 2 batteries that came with it. Almost 8 hrs to charge. Not complaining, these are big batteries. My grass is thick, it was about 6-7 inches, I set it to cut down to 3 inches. Noticed that the power fluctuates from high rpms to low depending on thickness, anywho, this thing kept shutting down when it was thick. After about 20 mins, the batteries died, they were HOT ! Not a pleasant experience. Took me all day to cut my entire yard. SMH !!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Time In short, the mower is great when it works if you have a small yard. But the batteries that DeWALT currently provides with it, makes it unusable. My Wife and I got this about two weeks ago. We started it up when we got it home. Initial impressions were it was super easy to use and it ran like a charm. However, it quickly died. We assumed the batteries were not fully charged out of the box so we charged them overnight. The next day I go to finish mowing my yard and our lawn mower won't start. Just sits there with a blinking red light to signify the batteries are dead. So I started troubleshooting. Found out the batteries from the mower work just fine on my other DeWALT 20V outdoor power tool (string trimmer), and the mower can start if I use my other, much smaller, 20V batteries for my power drill. Obviously though, those would not be able to power the mower for long. Overall, its just been a completely frustrating experience and not something I would ever expect to experience from a DeWALT product. If I would've done the research I typically do before I buy tools, I wouldn't have bought this. But, I trusted the DeWALT name. This experience has definitely shaken my faith in the DeWALT brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Battery Performance Worked great for one and half seasons- 75-minute run time. This year, the first time, it lasted my whole long, and the next 3, it lasted just 20 minutes. Since charging takes so long, mowing my lawn is now a 3-day event. I am very disappointed in the poor battery life. I am looking for a new electric mower - different manufacturuer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good! Bought this mower to handle the places my riding mower won't go. Two weeks later my riding mower broke down and I am pushing this guy to do two acres. I am still learning that when the heavy grass cranks up the torque it does not take too long for the batteries to need a rest or cool down or something. Not really sure. But then they come back to life and I get a pretty good amount of grass cut before needing to recharge. In high torque mode it definitely drains the battery faster. But I like the mower and so far, so good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery light flashing Used the mower for the first time and after several minutes the battery light start flashing. My first Dewalt product-probably bly my last

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 20 minutes of use & flashing red light I’m a single woman and I really count on things working & being efficient as I’m busy, shame on me for not looking at reviews. I cannot get this lawnmower to start back up and had to play with it 5 times after it died on me. I don’t know if one of the batteries is defective or what, it always says it’s charged and won’t show me how much. Took two batteries to it and it still has a red flashing light.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blinking Red Light I had charged the batteries overnight in the house and inserted them into the mower, started it and within seconds the mower stopped and there was a blinking red light on the mower. I checked the battery with other 20v tools and the batteries are fully charged. I re-inserted the batteries and the mower lasted maybe 20 seconds before shutting off again with the red light blinking. I cleaned the blade and put the mower on the highest cut setting but with the same results. I own many dewalt tools and have no issues to this degree so this is disheartening considering how much the mower cost me. I am hoping there can be a way to solve this problem quickly to keep my faith in dewalt steadying.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product Used less than 10 times. Batteries show fully charged but mower stays running for 4-5 seconds then stops and main battery light flashes. Really disappointed in this product. Now I have to go through the trouble of trying to return it. Ugh.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why won't this work properly Built in 2021. I was having problems with it stopping last year. No time to deal with it so had to mow the front, back and alley without turning it off or it may/may not start again. Some days it would start but not other days. Worked only once this summer for half the yard and have had to hire someome top mow since. I thought this mower would make life easier but it's costing me more. I'm terminally ill and don't have time to mess with one more thing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mower seems great, batteries are flaky The first time I used the mower, the mower lasted ~30 minutes after having had the two batteries fully charged overnight (3 bars for each battery). This was with the mower wheels set to the highest setting with barely any grass. It is early in the season, so I wanted to test the battery time when the mowing load would be very light. When it quit, one battery still had 3 bars while the other had no bars. The mower itself seems great, but I really should have read all the reviews about the battery. Had I seen all the issues, I'd reluctantly have bought a different brand.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Mower I purchased this mower hoping that I could be convinced that the technology was all that was promised. I've found, and still find the mower disappointing after a couple of years. My chief complaint is that it doesn't do well in grass that is thicker or slightly higher than normal. There isn't enough power in the motor to send all the grass to the grass catcher. Also, it's very frustrating that once the mower warms up and I shut it off, it may take up to five attempts to restart the engine. I suppose I always had admiration for Dewalt products, but not anymore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery life is horrible It takes 4 batteries to mow a 90x40 patch of yard. I have to stop half way through to charge the batteries and now the mower won't even start with brand new, freshly charged batteries in it...
Date published: 2023-04-23
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good while it lasted. This mower worked okay until it didn't. Now it won't start. When I engage the handle, the battery lights cycle and show a pair of fully charged batteries but the engine does not start. The safety switch is in the proper position and the key is inserted. I've been buying DeWalt products forever. I may have to go back to a gas lawn mower. Disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts grass with a battery life of 20 minutes I have half an acre and I had to recharge the batteries 5 times. I don't even have a large front yard but after finishing the front the batteries died. The backyard is less than a half acre and basically dividing the yard into quarters, I was able to finish the yard after charging the batteries 4 times. This was an all-day affair when I could have finished this in an hour or less. The concept of battery powered vs. purchasing gas was appealing - but I definitely regret it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Oh No!!! Main Started failing I live in a town house and have very lawn to mow and we are about to start the third season and crickets. At first i thought it was me, but wont keep a charge. After 3-4 passes it drains the batteries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from low battery life Yes, the previous reviews are accurate, the battery life is about 20 minutes. It took three days to cut my lawn by doing sections at a time.
