The Chapin 8701B Garden Seeder takes the back strain out of garden planting. Designed with a durable powder-coated steel frame, poly seed hopper, 6 interchangeable seed plates that accommodate 20 seed types and a wide rear wheel that replaces and pats the soil, the seeder plows and places the seeds at the appropriate intervals without jamming. Also featuring an adjustable row marker you can set and follow for the correct spacing of the next row. In properly cultivated soil, the seeder easily plows, plants covers and pats the soil over with each pass.

Plates are flexing, grinding seeds and skipping.
I’m having trouble with the smaller seeds lodging between the plates and the seed box. Causing skips between seeds planted! I contacted Chapin this morning. The woman said she would pass the information on to the tech department. They only make the Polly plates that flex, causing the problems. Waiting on a phone call, to solve the problem!

Design flaw
Seed planter handle positioned too straight up which causes front wheel to go down too deep and makes it hard to push it down thevrow.

Design ok, execution process has some errors
I bought this in spring of 2021 with high hopes that it would reduce the amount of back strain while planting my big garden plot and the design does reduce lots of back strain while maintaining its light weight manueavorabilty. The only problem i had is that when i put my seeds into the hopper and went to start down the row, the disc wouldn't turn properly so all of the seeds would pop/fly out and go all over the place. I tried every plate and this still happened to me. I was very disappointed with this outcome.

Umm how do we go about ordering replacement parts?
Bought this thing and lost all my seed plates in a move. cannot find replacement plates for the thing. dont get me wrong this saves backs. I am just cheap and dont want to buy a whole other seeder when all i need is just the plates

some parts are okay, but I am not happy with this
My little seeds were ground to a pulp, worked okay on large seeds but as I can still see these the small seeds were the ones I wanted help with
