Rated 1 out of 5 by stephan from grinding gears I purchased this product spring of 2020 and the 2nd time in use I could hear the grinding begin and by the 4th use I was hoping to get done before it stopped working all together "horrible grinding noise" very unimpressed with the quality of this product

Rated 1 out of 5 by Frank from Terrible. No assembly instructions, tons of random parts, and gears begin to grind before even moving 5 feet after filling. The geometry of the handle and frame are laughably terrible, making it nearly impossible to push this thing up any sort of grade in the grass. Also, the shield is useless, and on top of that, the application guide is 100% wrong. I had to dial it WAYYYY back and it still dumped too much product which has left me fighting to recover my lawn. If you're going to buy a large push spreader, you're better off with an Agri-Fab. A bit more expensive but far better product than this junk. Don't be fooled by how it looks and performs in the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ted Z from 8002 Broadcast Spreader Fail I bought this to broadcast fertilizer. If your fertilizer is a pellet style, it will get between the bin and the plate that controls the flow. Then, the plate will bind and won't open. I should have gotten another Scott's. Fortunately, Menards will let me exchange it. Chapin customer service was of no help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BManCan88 from Nice Spreader BUT..... I purchased this spreader because of the Chapin name but also keeping the past reviews in mind. The spreader is built well and looks like it would last much longer than my last spreader. The only issue I have are the lack of assembly instructions. Now, I can put most things together without instructions and this spreader was no different. The only issue I had was the extra parts and where to use them. Should I use the agitator or the auger or should the agitator be used elsewhere. No one knows because the lack of instructions, so I removed 1 star because of this issue. Other than the lack of instructions, the spreader works MUCH better than my old spreader.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Maintenance guy from L just put this 8200a spreader together, i am very mechanical but poor instructions, bolts and nuts on the bottom of box. handle laying in the bottom of box. there is a small plastic impeller looking piece but no idea where it goes. rubber protective boot for axle fell off in box. quality control terrible. i hope this thing works better that it was shipped?? for $143 i expected a bit more from a US made product. not sure about recommending this item yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stephlee18 from Works well [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this once so far. It worked pretty well. I used it to spread home defense in my yard. I had to adjust it a couple times to make sure that too much wasn't coming out at once but once I got it adjusted it worked pretty well. I ended up having a couple of pieces left over when putting or together that I don't know what to do with. The directions for assembling were lacking and hard to figure out. Hopefully this pieces aren't important. Looking forward to try this with rock salt in a couple months... not that I'm looking forward to the snow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by aandgsmom from Great! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a sample in exchange for my honest review. I haven't actually gotten a chance to use this on my lawn yet, and I already spread my product, but I still really love this spreader. It is big, and will hold a lot so I'm not constant refilling. It is also very sturdy, so I have no doubt that it will last for years!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ashlee from Easy to use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Chapin turf spreader is so simple to use! All I had to do was install the handle and agitator and as a women who was using one of these for the first time I was very impressed at the ease! Poured in my fall weed and feed and got to work on my lawn. It was very fast and would hold enough to do a very large lawn.
