Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sink strainer When I installed a new sink without a disposal, I tried about 5 different sink strainers. The all-metal sink strainer could not fit through the opening in the sink rack, except for one that could only fit through the opening if slipped out and wiggled at an exact angle that took a few tries each time. But essentially I could only get the metal strainers out to empty by getting it out from under the sink rack which can't be done if the sink is full of dishes. The mesh strainers were good at trapping even tiny food particles, but they were very hard to clean, especially if I washed out goopy bread dough or thick batter. I bought a grey "Squish" sink strainer from a local store and found that it works so much better because it is flexible. I can pull it out through the opening in the sink rack and I can turn it inside out to clean it if stuff gets stuck in the holes. I wanted a blue one because I keep a kosher home, so it helps to use color coded kitchenware. I found a blue one from a big online retailer, but it cost double what the grey one cost. It's only a few dollars difference, but I didn't want to pay double just for a different color. So I was happy to find that True Value sold the blue strainer for the same price as the grey one at other stores. I almost never use the stopper, so I can't comment on whether it is effective.
