Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not setup or harden-don’t waste your floors Followed instructions and it took 9 days to harden - maybe, kind of, I’m scared to do a second coat. Called Sherwin rep and they came to my home and said the issue is that the house thermostat was set to 68 and I had a window open. The rep from Kingston NY came to my house on the 7th day after applying sand the house was empty the entire time. You cannot make this up. I got extremely frustrated with that nonsense and now have to decide if I’m gonna resand my floors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Amber streaking I just finished the second 50+ year old chest of drawers for my great grandkids. Both were prepared the same way in same conditions. The first chest I used the old “clear gloss “ on brilliant white paint and result was a very attractive amber with a great shine. The second I didn’t have enough of the old gloss so I bought a gallon of the New Warm Gloss and was told it was the same formula?? Nope!! I now have amber streaks, I put on second coat hoping it would even out, just made it worse. I have used Minwax for 20 years and never had a problem, until they changed. Too Bad, looking for new supplier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This stuff is a nightmare! I am trying to use this on a guitar and that is nothing but a mistake. First off do not try to hang the guitar because this product will run no matter how thin you put it on. Second sometimes it goes on good, sometimes it doesn't. It's very inconsistent. Third if you lay your project flat the polyurethane seems to separate and make it look like orange peel. I am hoping after it cures I'll be able to buff and wax it to make it look some what good. I am super disappointed with this product. I do not recommend using it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runny Garbage Not for use on any vertical surface. When applied to a vertical surface (bath vanity) it had to be applied such that it was too thin to sand with 320 grit (instant cut through) or it dripped and ran. Both resulting in wasted DAYS to fix. The instructional video really should NOT show refinishing a night stand as that is most certainly not a proper use of this product. Only seemed to work on horizontal surfaces, also there was nothing "warm" about the gloss. Never using MINWAX anything again because of this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor performance I used Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane on a beautiful piece of wood used as a coffee bar. I watched several videos on application before my attempt. After opening the can I stirred it out. There was a thick sludge at the bottom of the can about 3/4” deep. After stirring the sludge into solution. I applied the first coat and after drying it was beautiful. I prepared for the second coat. When stirring I noticed there as not a sludge layer on the bottom of the can. I Continued to stir to the same consistency as the previous day. After Sanding and wiping with a dust cloth I started applying the second coat. Unfortunately the second coat did not produce the same results. It seemed to separate into clumps. I tried to smooth the coat but it continued to produce a rough texture. I finished the coat and let it dry. The poly never smoothed out. It looked terrible so I had to sand it off. Now I don’t know what to do. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Satin is glossy - not MATTE I was under the impression that "satin" means NOT shiny and glossy. However. it is just that. I hope that I can put another layer over this in matte. Otherwise, my Victorian woodwork looks like a table out of Scarface that one might use to partake "stuff" that needs to be on a shiny surface.....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Diasappointed Left with areas without semi-gloss sheen even though I was very conscientious about stirring it before and during application. I'm not sure how I should remedy these spots.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Conflicting Directions I have used other polyurethane brands before, but wanted to use all Minwax products on this project hoping for a nicer finish. I applied my first coat of Fast-Drying Polyurethane 2.5 hours ago. I came to this website to re-read the directions to make sure I do it exactly right. The can says to allow 3-4 hours to dry between coats. The website says 4 hours. The video on the website says 2 hours. So which is it? There are also conflicting directions about sanding between coats. The can and site both provide multiple coat directions only for floors, but the video says multiple coats for tables, too. Again, which is it? I want the most protection possible since this is a dining table so I will be doing 3 coats, but I am still not sure how much time I am supposed to allow between coats or whether I should sand. I guess I will go with the average and do 3 hours and barely sand. Minwax: Fix the directions so they are consistent everywhere.
