Poor performance, didn't last
I have been using Troy Built equipment (rototillers, mowers, trimmers, etc.) since the 1970s. They used to be reliable, high quality products but sadly, no more. Two years ago I replaced my Troy Built string mower, which I had had for at least 12 years, with a new one. This new one is junk. After running for a short time, if you have to stop to move something in your path, the mower shuts off, and won’t restart until you let it cool down for at least a half hour. My older model would keep running (without the strings rotating) which was so much more convenient. Furthermore, it didn’t place unnecessary stress on the motor by having to restart it so often. So guess what? The other day my mower died. Just after the two-year warranty period expired, of course. I will be replacing it with something other than Troy Built, that’s for sure.

Engine doesn't run
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine was a gift for my birthday. It ran fine for about 15 hours and then started missing. It will start but just sputters and then dies.

Problem trying to start it a second time
I am confused as to why this brand new trimmer will not start again. I have reviewed the set-up, new gas can, clean gas etc. It started just fine the first time and I was pleased. I operated it for about 10 minutes, turned it off and now when I try to start it, it putts-putts and then simply dies. It does not have a compression button. I see others have the same problem but I do not see any solutions posted. Very disappointing.

Worked only one time. So disappointed.
Assembly was easy. Added new gas in the tank and took it out for a spin. Worked great that first day but after I turned it off to add more gas, I could never get it to start up again. We tried the troubleshooting guide and we've gotten nowhere.

Like many others sold worked great for ten minutes
I bought this unit last summer. Troy-BILT TB22TM 140cc. Model number 25A26SD766,
Serial Number 1L020K50600. Ran Great for 15 minutes. I shut it off and pushed it to another area of my property. 100 yards. Then tried to start. Nothing. It is so dead I thought spark, then fuel and after a few hours with no success I put it in the barn. Very expensive boat anchor. I hope someone has an idea of how to fix. My wife is very upset with me. I need help. I need an idea. Help.

BUYER BEWARE
I've been using trimmers like this for over 50 years and have never purchased such a poorly designed unit in my life! Their is no throttle control, no choke control & no visible way to adjust anything. That means you can't make ANY adjustments to the unit when it fails to start! Granted, automatic choke and throttle are quite novel concepts if they were reliable, but they obviously are not. What a shame, Troy-Bilt used to be well built machines that could be counted on to run for years. Alas, no mas! I do NOT recommend buying this perpetually malfunctioning machine, it will run the first time but will prove to be useless when you need it again.

Have earlier troy-bilt 22 " Trimmer. Walk behind
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have had it for a while. Eats a lot of belts and string. My model had the tank that cracked all the time Currently also needs a gas tank seam breaks. When running it does do alot of work. But it tends to be high maintenance. If you don't mind the maint it's ok trimmer. I maybe the extreme user as I am more like a rural country user not a city dweller.
