My Simpson PowerShot Generator
I purchased this generator shortly after Hurricane Ian. I did not get the chance to utilize the generator before power was restored to my neighborhood. I have tested the operation and most of the power outlets. I will complete my test in the next few days. Too many other hurricane distractions get in my way.

Excellent choice for mobile power
My good friend and I purchased two of the 5568 models. The store had just received a truckload of generators. They were very expensive, but with our area of SW FL just missed being destroyed by Hurricane Ian and out of power for 4 days, we bought 2 and returned to our homes. Set up units in carport areas and ran extension cords for fridge, freezer, some lights, fans medical equipment, phone chargers, etc. They worked extremely well, but are very loud. Was not aware that these units are designed for commercial applications, job sites, etc. until more research was made. All sorts of generators were running throughout our small community. Run time on a full tank was very good, nearly 12 hours and the Honda engine is always a plus for my friend and me when purchasing gas power equipment. So, long story short a very nice machine, very much worth the expense and has a CO sensor that shuts down the unit, if detected. It's very well built and will last as long as we hope to need one. 3 yr residential warranty too. Disappointed to learn that it is imported. Guessing most are any more!

Excellent Generator!
First let me start with the fact that the SPG5568 is not electric start. It is recoil. At the time of this writing the description says it is electric start. The models above this one are, but not this one.
I have wanted a generator for a long time and was excited to get this one. We live in a low area and my sump pump runs a lot. If I was without power for an extended time I would be in trouble. This unit it a decent size and heavy but I have a spot in my garage to store it. It has enough power for my house and to help neighbors if needed.
Delivery - The unit showed up on my porch. It must have taken 2 guys because it is heavy, about 180 pounds. I moved it using my dolly but it's still hard to move. Got it into the garage with a tiny bit of struggle.
In The Box:
Generator, Wheels w/axles washers and clips, support bracket w/bolts and nuts, wrench, spark plug wrench, 1 quart oil, manuals.
Assembly - The generator comes with a full color Quick Reference Guide and a full manual. Both are well done. I cut the box at each corner and folded it down. The generator is in a nice cage so I tipped it on end on the cardboard and put on the support bracket first using the included wrench. Two nuts two bolts. Easy. Then flipped it to the other end and put on the wheels. Two axles, washers, clips. Easy as well. Next add the 1 quart of oil. It comes with a funnel and tube. I used my own funnel since it was already dirty. It says to fill it to the High line on the dip stick. The one quart doesn't quite get it that high but it's well above low so I was OK with it. Then add gas.
Starting For the First Time:
Ok so these are the steps you "should do". I forgot to turn the gas line on for the first few pulls. Once I turned it on, it started on the first pull.
1) Turn gas line on. It's a silver lever right above the pull start.
2) Turn the main run switch on. It's red and on the control panel.
3) Turn choke on.
4) Pull Recoil.
Testing:
The generator is about as loud as I expected. About the same as my push lawn mower. It starts really nice and smooth. The gas take is large, 6 gallons and can run the unit for around 9 hours at 50% load. I started then generator and then plugged in a power strip. I ran at 1500 watt toaster and 1800 watt hair dryer at the same time. I could hear the generator kick in as the rpms changed. The hair dryer and toasted worked properly. It was pretty cool.
Overall - I am very happy with this generator. It was easy to assemble and get running. Starts well and isn't too loud when running. It can handle 5500 watts which is enough for my fridge, sump pump and a few other things. It had a large gas tank so it can run overnight without needing to be refilled. I also have a lot more peace of mind knowing I have a backup plan.
