Pennington's Smart Seed Sun & Shade NORTH Mix provides the most versatile lawn in sunny to moderately shady areas. It produces a thick, fine bladed, dark blue-green lawn with very good drought tolerance. The MYCO Advantage™ is a unique coating technology that reintroduces beneficial, all natural micro-organisms into your lawn. Naturally occurring soil micro-organisms can become destroyed or depleted over time, which can result in lifeless, compacted soil. MYCO Advantage™ corrects this by attaching to the emerging seed roots, helping the grass grow a denser, deeper root system. And the result is a healthier, thicker lawn that better utilizes available nutrients and fertilizer, and requires up to 30% LESS WATER. Penkoted® seed has been treated with a material containing a specific fungicide, a natural insecticide and a growth stimulant that dry on the seed and are time-released into the soil as needed once the seeds are planted. Waiting for Growth

Grows grass eventually
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a dead spot on my lawn where a bush had overgrown the lawn and killed it so I tried the Pennington smart seed. After 2 weeks of daily watering , I finally got some grass sprouts but it was not very thick. I'm hoping that it will get thicker or I will add more seed. I have tried other brands (Scotts EZ Seed) and they sprouted quicker and thicker.

Get rid of bare spots!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this seed out in both shady and sunny areas to see if it works as advertised. As long as you loosen up the top soil in the bare spots, and water this seed, you are going to get fantastic results. In both the shady and bare spots, I had grass starting to come up within a week. I highly recommend this! It's also great that it includes the fertilizer mixed in with the seeds!

Good mix

So far I think this mix is helping to rejuvenate those sad spots in the grass. The grass is looking more even. The previous owner had dogs. This mix is helping.

Great Mix for Lush Grass
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a new home in a new state at the end of last summer. The front lawn grew in very patchy this spring. We used this seed on some of the patchy areas several weeks ago. After about two weeks, we didn't notice much difference. We chalked this up to being because of heavy local rains recently as well as birds that may have fed on the grass seed. A couple of days ago though, we did notice that the grass was starting to fill in in some of those areas. It appears to be coming in very lush at this point. As long as it continues to grow, we will be very pleased with this product. There are many factors to take into consideration before sowing new grass but compared to other brands we've tried, this one still ranks for us. I personally enjoyed the smaller, compact bag size as it was easier for me to lift. We recently saw this brand in one of our local stores so when we re-seed this fall, we will definitely be considering this as an affordable and efficient option.

Works well, filled up my patchy spots

Great seed and grass starter!

Prepped ground per instructions on bag - few bare spots and reseeding 5,000 sqft with 2 bags of 20lbs Sun and Shady mix -- 27 days later at best 50% sprouting and at worst 0% --- will wait 10 more days - then apply for refund

Seems to be very high quality

It hasnt stayed warm continously enough for the seeds to really do their thing. The unexpected temperature drops and freezing rains didnt allow much to sprout or grow. We will attempt another round once it stays in the 50s or warmer.

Great Brand
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in a northern state so it doesn't get warm here until later in the year. I have yet to try this product due to the climate where I live. I will probably begin next month using it. However, I work at a nursery and get asked all the time if we carry this particular brand of grass seed. It seems to be in high demand if so many people are asking for it. I am excited to use it next month and hope it generates the results everyone says it does.

Great Easy To Use Seed

Super easy to spread in a traditional spreader and a little goes a very long way. Saw great results after about two weeks and can't wait to see my lawn in another month. Easy to use.

It's super easy to use as it's easy to see where it's planted. I followed directions as per the bag and it's an awesome blue/green color until it's watered. We only planted it maybe a week ago so the results so far are slim. Some sprouting but not alot. I really hope this works in my yard.

Great seed!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received got Pennington Smart Seed Sun & Shade Mix and I am impressed. I needed to finish a bank our recently installed pool that doesn't get a lot of sun throughout the day and this worked wonders. It's really nice that it is seed + fertilizer because it started coming up in no time at all. Now I don't have to worry about erosion with the recent rain! Highly recommend it!

I would not buy this product again....
I had a professional remove a tree and landscape and plant quality grass seed...It grew well and I wanted to add more seed to fill in spots, so I bought Smart Seed Sun and Shade to add to the professional job...and all I got was a lawn full of weeds from the additional Smart Seed and had to call True Green service to add weed control to get rid of the variety of weeds I no have...Normally I do not rate a product, but had to add my experience to anyone who might ant to know.....

Dies a great job in shady areas
