Fantastic unit for electronics work and repairs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this unit as a gift last Christmas and I wanted to run it through its paces before reviewing and making any judgements. I have been using it for measurements and alignments on vintage guitar amps and tape decks and it’s so easy with the auto ranging feature. I am able to measure millivolts for Biasing amps and check capacitors down to nF and pF levels. Highly recommend this for anyone who needs a quality versatile multimeter at a reasonable price.

The display ruins it
The only thing I have a problem with is the display. As many others have noted, the contrast is awful unless you're looking at it from a steep angle (from the bottom). Straight on, it just looks like the battery is constantly low. I'm going back to Fluke, sorry Klein.

Not upto BK Precision level
I would rather say it's of Extech quality, from my experience BK Precision makes the best meters, Fluke does make some but not all Fluke products are good! And this Klein is just OK for the price but the display and fit and finish is not up to the mark! Long term reliability is a question, Klein is famous for mechanical hand tools and this is Electronics so it's obvious.

Awesome features but...
I love all the great features this meter provides. It is well build, and covers pretty much everything you would want on a unit in its category. Price its the best part, as it offers a lot for the relatively low cost.
The only downside for me is that the display is hard to read, unless the device is positioned at a certain angle. Completely straight, and the numbers start to fade away. Otherwise, great meter..
If you can deal with the display issue, I would then recommend it.

Received as a replacement for defective MM1000
My issue with this is the thermal couple only goes down to 32 degrees. The MM1000 went to -58 degrees. No longer useful for HVAC. No really a comparable product.

Its a beast
As power plant operator in Dutch Harbor working under the extreme weather conditions I have put this meter through its paces outside in the snow and rain and was impressed. Even dropped it off a ladder once didnt effect it, the display is easy to read the backlit display is awesome.
Our plant Chief Engineer was so impressed bought a few to replace some of the aging meters for the rest of the crew.

Reads true RMS, great pricing, lasts a long time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a meter kit similar to this 4 years ago and it is still as reliable as the first time I used it. I bought it for my collage course and it did well for a beginner like me. I now have a career in HVAC and I use it all the time! Fluke meters are way too expensive for my line of work but Harbor freight type meters don't last long. This is a reliable yet affordable option! If my Kline meter ever breaks I will defiantly be buying this same one!
