Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad for staining!! We used this product on a beautiful pine door we were staining because we were promised it would give a super even finish. We sanded evenly as per instructions and applied stain. The stain did NOTHING!!!! We turned the door over and tried again. This time in attempt to sand the sanding sealer off. Stain took but it was blotchy and uneven. This product is probably fine if you are painting but definitely not staining. We tried a door with no sanding sealer and it turned out beautifully. However we have 1 ruined door from this product. Photo notes: door on left has sanding sealer, door on right does not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great finish We remodeled our home with pine, walls and ceilings about 5 years ago. The contractor that we hired to finish the wood recommend using sand and seal over polyurethane due to his experience (he has been painting and sealing for over 30 yrs) because polyurethane will yellow and crack over time. We wanted to keep the natural look and we told him we trusted him with his recommendation. We are so happy we did. 5 yrs later we are still in love with the finish and look. It looks like it was just applied. He did put three coats on and there has been so change in coloring or cloudy areas, and we did not use any other products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Finish I bought this product as a sanding sealer for my oak floors. I have used a solvent based sealer followed by two coats of solvent poly urethane in the past. This is a water based product and not suitable for oak floors. The sealer puddles and does not soak in. The directions say dries in one hour, it takes several hours. It significantly raised the grain. The directions say sand with 320, I had to use 120 to get the wood smooth again. If the sealer is on too heavy it dries cloudy and has to be sanded out or it will show through the finish coats. It was a waste of time and money. You would be better off applying a first coat of thinned solvent based poly urethane than using this.
