Spigot/valve always breaks
This would be a fine water container if not for the poorly-made spigot. I've owned 4 now and replaced each one for the same reason; the spigot, specifically the handle portion that you use to open and close to get water is poorly made and brittle and subject to easy breakage. My most recent one lasted a little more than a year! This is the one component that is subjected to lots of use, the jug itself merely needs to hold water and it does that fine, but the part that you actually need to use just needs to be beefier! I cannot recommend this product as long as this part is so easily breakable.

Manufacturing Plant Needs Surprise Inspection
I recently (April, 2022) ordered two of these jugs to replace an identical one that was years old and finally ruptured when it fell off my truck. I am an over-the-road trucker and used it to bring drinking water with me. Since it had lasted so well, I decided to get two more of the same to replace it. Unfortunately the quality of manufacture has fallen off since my original was made. The two I received were defective from the factory and will shortly be returned. The thread sizes on the spigots and jugs did not match, and as a result the spigot can not be tightened down enough to seal. Since both jugs had the same problem, it clearly was not a one-off. Both could have come from a single bad production run, but I spent enough time in manufacturing to know that neither unit should have left the factory. Whoever was assembling the two pieces ought to have noticed this problem and stopped them from being shipped.

Short life span
The jugs are handy and very useful out camping as well around the house. The blue part of the jugs are solid, strong, and hold up well over time. However I would suggest not using the vent cap, or opening it as the material used for them has a short life span and the loop breaks. resulting in losing it and making the jug useless. This goes for the valve/cap assembly as well. I tried to get replacement parts for the 6 I have, but to no prevail. Good product beginnings for a year, then becomes useless.

Good container. Valve and cap are not.
Very good jug. Valve and cap are not designed for durability. Thin plastic parts snap. This is so they can save 1/2 of a penny on plastic. Cost more to get a new valve and cap then to buy new. Get better engineers....

Good jug, poor spigot
Jug is durable, spigot is extremely subpar. This is a convenient size and would be a good value, but the spigot broke so quickly and easily it just turned into a water storage jug rather than something useful at the campsite.

Love the jug but spigot breaks easily
I love the Coleman 5 water container. I've owned 4 over the last 20 years and they are good, heavy-duty jugs that store easily and are a good size for most people to be able to handle. However, the reviews are true about the spigots breaking easily. I always try to have a couple of spare spigots in storage when needed. I will usually break about 1 every year. I've been stuck several times having to buy a new jug when I didn't have a spare spigot available (hence 4 jugs). Having said all this, I would still recommend buying the jug .
