Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint not holding ! Sorry for my English, I’m a french client. I bought the barbecue less than a month ago. After about ten uses, the paint comes off completely in certain areas. I took into account that the fire should not be too close to the walls but I do not see how to do it when I have to cook for 15 people! I also don't understand why the grill is so big if you have to make a small fire... At the price of the model I don't recommend it at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best grill ever! I’ve had this grill for 6 years. Outside in the the elements year round, uncovered. Wire brush and some high temp spray paint, good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this grill This thing heats perfectly. Took me a second to figure out how it heats, because I'm coming from a slightly smaller, but similar grill. I haven't tried to smoke anything yet, but will soon. Everyone is very excited for me to grill/smoke for them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Competition Ready! Very happy with this smoker! After a couple weeks of owning it and learning it I took it to a KCBS competition and placed in the top 10 only cooking on this smoker! Highly recommend also purchasing the 2nd temperature gauge separately. The "Oklahoma Joe" name plate on the smoker was broken upon arrival, and the "Oklahoma Joe" patch on the cover I bought separately was stitched on poorly and crooked. Seems to be some haphazard quality control, but otherwise I'm happy with the functionality of the products I purchased

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I put a a water bath up near the the fire box and did use a charcoal basket. I didn’t do any other mods. The smoker held the temperature constantly between 225 an 250 the whole 6 hour cook. I am super happy with the performance. I am going to seal the fire box with high heat silicone but others than that, satisfied customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This Smoker! This smoker is Awesome! My husband bought it for me for our Anniversary/Christmas present! I've had it for about 5 years now! I use it all the time! Great for grilling and Smoking lots of Meat! We have alot of family gatherings and lots of people to feed! It's still in great shape. It's starting to get a little rust under the bottom now because I've used the heck out of it! When I have to replace it, I will Definitely be getting another one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent basic offset. It's on it's second year and has been well worth the investment. The heavy gauge construction is exactly what I was looking for. Porcelain coated grills are also a nice touch. It needed mods to make it really work. I put in woodstove gaskets on both box and grill doors, and used high temp firestop sealant on the joints. This SOB SMOKES! 16hr full brisket came out KILLER! As does any other smoke session. One regret is that the grates are not adjustable, so when using as a grill, temp. adjustment is only with dampers and fuel supply... you have to be expert on open grill to make it work. Other than that, I am pleased as punch. I do wish they would come up with a hanging tray for grilling, so the charcoal distance to the grill could be adjusted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Smoker I have owned my Longhorn for a while now and I love it. My smoker to me can't be beat. I've cooked ribs, butts, pork belly, chicken, brisket and even hamburger and hotdogs. I've even smoked shrimp on it and it turned out awesome. It's easy to control the heat and cooks great food every time. I plan to use it for many more years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best smoker I've owned I have bought mine Monday 03-22-2021 and I have used it every night starting on Tuesday. I have no complaints whatsoever. It gives the best flavor and when the smoke rolls out, it's a beautiful white cloud. I am in love with it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this thing My dad bought one around 2013 and it outlasted him. When our house burned in 2015 it was on the front porch. Naturally we pushed part of the house off of it and made hamburgers on it that evening. It's now 2021 and the firebox has just now began to fall apart. Quality made and darn near indestructible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite cooker I’ve had two of these and my second one is somewhere around 10 years old. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I cook on mine weekly and it has held up. I just need to replace the grills and grates. If you like to cook and smoke, this is the pit I would recommend. Can’t say enough good things about the product. Built to last says it all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great beginner I have had two of these units for 6 years. I cook 2 to 3 times a week on the grill or smoker. I also own a pellet. this is still by go to. I love managing a fire. i have modified mine slightly to allow more smoke in a chamber and for better heat distribution. you will see as with any off set a baffle plate is required to allow an even cook through out the whole cook chamber. for the price it is a great beginner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great smoker... after modifications I bought this November 7th 2020.. the welding on it is sketchy at best. Rolled part of still on bottom of firebox isnt even close to the weld or close to being weld.. the door on the smoke chamber at the top.. the piece the door rest on inside chamber. It wasnt weld flush so theres a gap a foot long. Door doesn't seal. Not even with lava lock gasket. Other than that it has potential..lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money! Being a novice smoker this smoker and the great resource of the website has helped me get great results right out of the box. The craftsmanship and gauge of the metal used to build this guy is telling me this will be around forever with a small amount of maintenance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too Short 6ft tall Chicago, IL. Cook good and good smoker, but would be perfect if it had a second rack and was taller. I had to place mine on a cinder block and a paver just so I don't break my back cooking. But, if your really really short or wheel chair bound, this might be the perfect smoker for you. Oh and I've had it for about 4 years and it's finally starting to show rust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now that I am familiar, I love it! Had this for three years now, I maintain it well, clean it out and allow it to dry out after hosing down every use. By becoming familiar with the 2 dampers I can easily regulate temps in the main chamber between 225 and 250 degrees. Pans with under the grid help reduce clean up and improve the results. Easy to build a good sized direct fire on the far left, leave off one cooking grate to do direct fire steaks and such. VERY versatile. Large pork shoulders and butts are great for an offset, when your'e almost done you can throw the cooking grate on in the fire box and cook a few burgers and dogs for the grankids who don't want the 7 hour pork smokes. Best outdoor cooking implement I have ever had. I had one of the little ones years ago and fell in love with the brand. Been grilling/smoking with charcoal and wood for about 45 years now. For the money, you can't beat this offset.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still in the box Just received my grill. Upon opening the box noticed these imperfections in the surface on top. Thinking this might be the start of some corrosion? Any ideas? Just wondering if I should even bother building this thing or just send it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic value True bargain at this price, some limitations and drawbacks as far as heat retention and air flow, but you can’t beat it for the price

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it. I bought this 1 week ago. I've cooked twice and I don't seem to be having the issues that others have posted. I'm having no problems regulating the temperature. Very experienced with a grill but this is my 1st smoker. So far I love it. It does leak a little around the chamber door but I can hold 275°-285° with no problem. So far 1 tenderloin and 1 15lb brisket turned out to perfection. Very satisfied with the purchase of this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ok smoker, but frustrating to control temp First off, i did not buy this smoker, it was given to me by my neighbor, who was just frustrated that he couldn't control the temp on it. I cleaned it up, and went to get some wood for a weekend test run. Saturday came, and I laid down a bed of coals to get this thing started. Having a welder, i made a temp probe holder that would reach to about 2 inches from the top of the cooking chamber, down to grate level. I made 2 of them, one for the firebox side, and the other for the smoke stack side. I put a few logs of post oak that were cut in half, and let the fire do it's thing. In about 30 minutes, when i started seeing the Blue smoke, i knew exactly why my neighbor hated this thing. My 4-Probe holder was showing temps on the firebox side at around 350 at the top, 315 on the bottom, and on the other side, about 240 on top, and 180 on the bottom. So you'll either burn what your cooking, or you won't cook it at all. As i would put in new logs to keep the fire going, the temp would drastically spike, then stay steady for about 10 minutes, then drop. It was a cycle that would be repeated over and over again. Basically, its porpoising...up, down, up down...no steady flow. As nightime came, i sat looking at this thing and wondering why it was so hard to control the temp. Then i saw it !! I saw the flames of the fire BETWEEN THE HALVES OF THE FIREBOX!! The entire firebox was sucking in un-metered air, causing the fire to be stoked beyond control. I then took it to work, disassembled it, cleaned the firebox and welded the 2 pieces together. I also added some strip steel around the damper/opening to keep air from leaking in as well. Next, I got a piece of sheet metal, and made a baffle that bolts on the opening of the firebox going into the cooking chamber. This allowed me to even out the temps from one side to the other to about 20-30 degrees in difference. The one thing that bothers me every time i look at this smoker is the placement of the smoke stack, and that it's mounted so high, like right near the top of the cooking chamber. This allows the heat to come up, travel across the chamber, and make an easy exit out the chimney, barely touching the food it's supposed to be cooking. This is a massive waste of thermal energy. Your only option is to either weld shut the hole and lower the smoke stack exit, or create a exit baffle inside the cooking chamber to force the heat to go down, and then exit. So, after doing these mods, the smoker is a lot easier to control the temp once you get a nice bed of coals going. I did add some thermal gasket to the cooking chamber door, and that caused it to not close as well as it should. But i bought a few latches online, and it keeps it pretty well sealed now. My next mod is to add 2 temp gauge lugs at the bottom of the chamber door, so i can visually see what the temp is at the grate level....where i'm cooking food. Final Verdict: At the price point that this is now selling for, and with all the mods that need to be done in order for it to be considered a somewhat decent smoker, this Oklahoma Joe should be a EASY PASS. There is just TOO much that needs to be done to get this functioning like it should. If you don't have the tools necessary to make the mods yourself, you'd be better off spending a little more for something that's miles ahead of where this smoker will start you off at. There is a lot of extra add-ons that you can purchase online to improve every deficiency this smoker presents, but after everything is said and done, you would have been better off buying a quality product, rather than a quantity-produced item.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible welding The welding on the legs don’t line up with the screws so I have one wheel straight and the other 1/4 off to where it looks like it’s ready to make a turn! After I season it I noticed the smoker box started to slope down and is about a 1/4 to a 1/2 in off from being straight and the paint immediately started to peel off as soon as the temperature got to 400 degrees

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I saw some of these smokers in a local store and was sick with disappointment. I bought an Oklahoma Joe in the 90s and it was thick, heavy cast iron and blows away the current models. I suspect when they were bought by Charbroil quality became secondary to cost cutting and profits. Such a shame.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's an OK smoker I have had this just under a year now and it fit my budget. I made some modifications that helped a lot It's all about fire management when it comes to temperature control. I literally can't leave this smoker alone for a period of time because of the fluctuation in temperature. I continually struggle with maintaining a steady and optimal temperature no matter what I am cooking/smoking. I recommend to research a couple videos on this subject In the firebox, I've used a basket sometimes and I have just used the grate only sometimes. For me, I am having better luck with just a wood fire and no charcoal. It's a work in progress. The basket is a separate purchase The paint is starting to peel away from the side of the firebox and from the lids
