Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 in One Oil I’ve used this product for as long as I can remember. In use it on everything including all of my firearms. The old metal bottle was the best. I bough the plastic bottle. It’s terrible. Thank goodnesses I had it in a zip lock freezer bag within my ammunition bucket. It leaked all over. Bring back the metal can with the push down lid. That type of can never failed me! Outstanding product. I just won’t carry it around any longer. It will stay at home. That’s too bad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great product but ..... ....what can i use to clean up overruns? I am only smearing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good all-around lubricant for home basics I use this oil for most of my home needs, from squeaky doors, to lubricating some of my woodworking tools requiring a light machine oil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best all around light weight oil on the market Love it. The only thing that could make it better is to bring back the metal can!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Packaging, Great Oil The bottle leaks! The oil is great for application on my barbells, but it leaked all over my cabinet when it was stored. Disappointing and made a mess.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bottle is not effective I fight in an armored combat league using medieval weapons and equipment. I used 3-in-1 oil to keep my armor /weapons from rusting. It is effective and keeps everything looking good. I do have a complaint about the bottles as well. I have used multiple bottle of the last few years and the new ones are not good. The plastic is not very good at keeping the bottles from leaking. I have a special "3-in-1 bucket" that i use when i store the stuff so that i dont have it leak into my things. I aslo travel with it in a zip-loc bag so that i dont have an unintended leak. Please fix this problem. Also thank you for a good oil.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great oil Have been using this oil since 1950. My father and grandfather both always had cans of 3-in1 oil! I was hoping that if I ordered same it would be in the metal can.Do not like the new plastic bottles as they are flawed. I will pour the contents of the 3 bottles that I just got ,through Amazon, into metal oil cans. Bummer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great oil When my father bought his house from my grandfather, a small METAL bottle of this was sitting in the utility room. We always looked at it as a sign of good luck because house us great and we actually used the same bottle of oil to improve our home. So many uses. Bicycles, ATV parts, door hinges, tools, you name it, we use 3 in 1 for it. I do prefer the old metal bottles over the new plastic ones, even though i haven't had that many issues with the new plastic ones. On the plastic bottles without the telescopic spout, there is a very small lip around the edge of the lid, which usually help so hold and excess oil left on the spout so it doesn't get on the rest of the bottle, all over your hands, and onto everything in your path to the sink. The old metal bottles had a lip that was about 1/2 inch tall and it held way more than enough oil than it ever required to. I always dump the plastic bottle of oil into a metal pump oiler. I would love to see you bring back the old metal bottles. I understand that all the machinery required to make the plastic bottle (unless you buy them from an outside source) would have to be trashed or sold and replaced with the new stuff but you could easily charge more per bottle and i would still buy it. Also how can i buy a gallon of the origional formula?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no more metal can? i had to replace my old can of 3 in 1 & after looking online & in stores, it seems they only sell it in plastic containers now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic bottle - oh dear I've used 3-in-one for over 40 years and it's always been my go-to oil around the workshop and house. But moving to a plastic bottle is the worst design & product decision ever made. Apart from being environmentally unfriendly, it simply doesn't function as well as the original metal can (as can be seen by the number of 1-star reviews). It eventually leaks and the dispensing control is hopeless. Please, please bring the metal can back!! Until you do, I'll not be buying it again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wet dream Sounds like 3-in-1 has managed to take a perfect product and ruin it by changing the bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is great, packaging is pitiful I've used 3-in1 for about 35 years on sewing machines, firearms tools, hinges, you name it. Has always worked and done the job of cleaning and lubricating parts. Only drawback is the plastic bottle isn't worth 2 cents. Just go to your local hardware store and get an oil can. Yes, people, they still make those. That will eliminate the problem of the bottles either spewing the oil out with temperature changes or plastic bottle degradation over time causing the oil to leak out. Common sense, people. Use it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great oil, terrible bottle!! Leaks out The last two bottles of 3 in One oil that I purchased leaked out all over my shop shelf and work table. After the first one leaked out I thought maybe I had dropped it and perhaps cracked the bottle. I bought another one and after a short period of time it began leaking also. The plastic bottles are clearly defective. I got virtually little to no use from either bottle, only an oily mess to clean up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE BOTTLE / SPOUT DESIGN I bought it for pocket knife washer lubrication. The second I pulled the telescoping nozzle out it shot oil everywhere; add another pair of clean jeans to the work wear only pile. I do remember growing up we had the metal can and it kept for years in an uninsulated barn! Positive note, the little bit that actually ended up on the washers worked perfectly, night and day lubrication.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the best on the market! I remember my grandfather having a metal can of this stuff in his little box at the bottom of the stairs and always saw it walking up to bed when visiting. I use it today for squeaks and creaks. Works perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Oil but new oil can is hard to use Like everyone else I had the same problem with the oil dispenser bottle. Can't you sell the oil in larger bottles like a Quart or Gallon so the consumer can just fill there oil dispenser bottle. The oil is great and much cheaper than Tri Flow which is better but not for the big price difference. You might sell on gallon bottles but I couldn't find them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy the extended reach bottle. Spills more than applies to project. Incredibly ignorant bottle top design. Got so mad I threw away the whole NEW bottle. Done with the brand. Lotta other choices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good product, bad packaging One of the worst things your company ever did was take this product out of a metal can and put it in plastic. So disappointed when I picked it up off the shelf and it was plastic. Grew up using the metal can and could control the product so much better, now the oil just streams out everywhere no matter how small of a hole you cut on the spout. Sorry grandpa, can’t go put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on it anymore, now you’re gonna get a solid stream and a mess!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome oil My dad brought this oil from work a while ago he works at a recycling company and he gave me this oil and have had it for year and half and it's an old school tin can bottle and I see now theirs no more tin bottles out their. I do hope I soon see the tin bottles again. With great quality comes great packaging. I have bought the new oil bottle with the extendable straw but my oil continues to leak out the side. I love this product always will but I want to see the metal bottles again like this one

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring Back The Metal Can Used 3 in 1 for years, but stopped buying it since the plastic bottles leak everywhere and there's no flow control. Way too messy, way too wasteful. Using 20wt motor oil in an oil can until/if 3 in 1 comes to their senses and brings us back the metal can. But seeing all the negative reviews and they're obviously being ignored I'm not holding my breath.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Container Leaks I've used the product for years - it is good quality oil. I've always had issues with leaking containers ; even the metal cans. Problem always seems to be were the spout connects to the container. The metal cans at least contained the leak in the rimed area. The new plastic container is by far the worst. When filling small oil can from the 3 in 1 dispenser, oil will actually start dripping from around where the spout connects to the bottle. I've always wished 3 in 1 was available in a larger size for refilling oil cans (I prefer to use ).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't fix what aint't broken. I'm 76 years old and have always used 3 in 1 oil exclusively but I've had nothing but trouble with the new improved plastic bottles. Please go back to the metal can.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plastic bottle is terrible! Great oil but the bottle is terrible, real cheap and they leak!! Go back to the old metal can!!
Date published: 2019-04-24
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The oil is terrific, the plastic bottle is junk I have been using 3 in 1 for over 60 years. It does a great job as a light, multiversal home and shop oil. I coud only find it at my harware store in the white plastic bottle. JUNK! After the bottle cracked open and ruined my work project, I threw it way. Will not buy the product again unless the pckaging is returned to metal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Telescoping design flaw Vacuum effect I give ONLY THE DESIGN of this 'telescope' basically zero stars. When there was slight temperature changes, and enough oil in the tube, it starts to siphon automatically and if you don't catch it.. and it goes.. slow, like overnight, you will lose all your oil and whatever the thing was sitting on will be covered. I used to like the old metal cans which were so simple a baby could use. There are other problems I have with this design and it's the worst messiest way to distro oil. What is going on with these companies? Love the oil all day though. One of my favorite oils to use for various things.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from good oil, bad bottle Read these reviews and agree with most of them. I have used this product many of my 62 years. I had, note - HAD, a new bottle with the pull out spout. Got to use it twice and the plastic bottle split open in my lubricants cabinet. Same thing as another person wrote, all oil drained out all over everything. I still use your oil but I put it in a much better grade container as soon as I get home with it. I couldn't agree more with others that you plastic bottles do in fact SUCK! Bring back the can!
Date published: 2019-03-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please bring back the metal tin! Nobody likes the new plastic bottle. Oil spills out without that "little squeeze" of the tin. Cap doesn't screw on. Bottle falls over. Hard to "aim" the oil flow. What were you thinking?
Date published: 2019-02-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring back the metal can. I used 3 in 1 oil many years ago it is a great product. Went to buy a can today and could only find it in plastic bottle. Ok but after you tip it a few times the residue oil will run down the side of the bottle,i think the metal can used to catch the residue.Any way great product but i miss the old school can.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the metal can!! The plastic bottle is horrible,BRING BACK THE OLD CAN!!
