Rated 1 out of 5 by from Step 1 Green Lawn; Step 2 Brown Lawn I bought Scott's 4-Step Program two years ago and had no problems with Steps 1, 3, & 4; however, not with Step 2. Even though I had followed the instructions on the Step 2 package, I ended up with brown spots and brown streaks in my fescue lawn. The Step 2 application did do a fairly good job of controlling dandelions and clover. However, the Step 2 application did an even better job of killing my fescue lawn. Attempts to re-seed the spots failed; the new grass withered and died shortly after sprouting. This year I decided to give the Scott's 4-Step Program a second chance. A big mistake! Prior to my application of Scott's Step 2, my neighbors gave me words and looks of admiration, now I am receiving words and looks of sympathy. There is an old Russian proverb: fool my once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used the step 2 upon a recommendation from the hardware store. Didn’t do a thing and now it says I shouldn’t apply anything else for 30 days. I am infested with Dandelions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burned my grass Read directions and applied accordingly. My grass was green and plush prior to applying Step 2. Now burnt and or dead grass scattered in my yard. I read reviews of others having this issue but I ignored the warning. My bad. No more Step 2 on my lawn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A pale green (blue grass) lawn with beautifully green clover A terrible waste of money; thank you for the rebate so I didn't waste as much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Step 2 no longer kills weeds I think something changed in this product within the last two years. It weirdly did not kill any weeds. I thought I'd give it another chance, because nature isn't perfect, and the conditions may not have been perfect when I spread it out in the morning in mid-April. I experienced the same results this year. I definitely followed the directions. However, as of today, I have some of the biggest most robust clover, dandelions, and other weeds in the neighborhood. I'm also the only one that doesn't have a service do the fertilizing. However, this product is not cheap and I'm not happy about essentially putting expensive nitrogen on my lawn, that I still need to remove. If Scotts intentionally changed the product so that I have to buy the weed-n-feed, that would be a deal breaker for my patronage. I most likely won't be doing the 4 Step program next year, it's too expensive and it seems that the formulas have changed to require 3 additional products that appear to dovetail exactly in between the 4 Steps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product! Used this in June as directed. Killed some of my lawn and didn't touch clover or crabgrass! I have an abundance of crabgrass now and more clover!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burned my lawn Killed about half the weeds, but it burned my grass. Bought as a 4 step but will never use this again. I wish I could post a photo of the burned grass.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product Ruined Yard I have always used Scott's Turf Builder Products with great results. This year I decided to use the 4 Step Annual program. Step 1 did fine but Step 2 has ruined the yard. I used a broadcast spreader in accordance with the directions and not only has a parts of the yard turned brown, it burned the grass throughout the yard. I use to have one of the best yards on the block, until I used Step 2.
