Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go-to product for the home orchard This is the only home-use product I know containing the active ingredient acetamiprid, which was recommended to me by my state's Agricultural Extension expert on insect control as being safer for friendly orchard insects. Acetamiprid is a "synthetic nicotine" that is very potent against apple-damaging insects -- my orchard producing several hundred pounds of fruit uses a bottle per season, which contains the amount of active ingredient as one carton of a popular brand of cigarettes. Nicotine is also an insecticide, only acetamiprid is much less human toxic than nicotine. I apply it wearing an "organic vapor cartridge" respirator mask, but that is only because of my large number of trees I spray and to get into the habit of taking precautions if I switch to a more toxic product. Acetamiprid is absorbed into the fruit and means it requires many fewer sprays than alternative insecticides, which is important for the home/hobby orchard. I get clean fruit with only two sprays per season -- once in late May when the fruit first "sets" and a second time in July or early August. It is the only agent I know that is "curative" -- it prevents fruit from being wrecked even after insects "strike" by laying eggs that would grow into worms. Its chemical similarity to nicotine, low human toxicity and low applied concentration along with following EPA-labelled directions for pre-harvest interval that account for its chemical breakdown allay any concerns of eating the treated fruit. "Neo-nicotinoid" insecticides are criticized for harming bees. The worst actor may be the chemical cousin to acetamiprid called imidacloprid, which is widely applied to corn. Imidacloprid is said to get into the soil and be absorbed into the entire plant and to persist. Acetamiprid breaks down in soil and is much less persistent, and experts reason that it is not a problem for bees if used according to the product label and not applied to fruit until after the flowers have withered. Use Ortho Flower, Fruit & Vegetable Insect Killer according to the labelled directions, and you will have more fruit than you know what do with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Same product, different form... A good product to be used on several different garden plants. Where I traditionally used a similar powder product, I find this user friendly. Most small gardeners will be happy with cost, use and results.
