Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure how to secure my house After getting a new/larger dog, we purchased and installed the PetSafe Extreme Weather Pet Door. After installing the door, we realized that the included cover does not attach securely enough to stop someone from crawling through the door and into our home. Based on this, I could not recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An OK attractive pet door that still needs some wo Attractive door, good size and design which eliminates the less expensive door problem with the lock getting broken off. Nice also because it covers the door inside the pet door so no cut door showing. I only gave it a 3 because my 3 month kitten can not only burst through the lock cover to gain entry but he can pull it off as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product This is a well-made product and quite clever. It does its job of keeping out cold (Ohio) weather.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not like the previous model I bought this dog door 2 years ago when we moved to our new house. We bought this particular one because we had one in our old house that we used for about 10 years and worked great with no issues. Sadly our new one has broke twice now, both times the outer flap has broke off. First it was the flap and the second time it was the hanger for the flap. Each time it was -20c, so I don’t think the new one is “extreme weather”. If it gets this cold where you are don’t buy this, something has changed with these and they are not as good as they used to be. Too bad, it was a great product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks and is difficult to reassemble This was dribbling enough water into my utility room during storms that I had to disassemble it to figure out where it was leaking. I couldn't find exactly where it was letting water in, so once I got it reassembled, I caulked the heck out of it and it seems to be okay for now. Taking it apart and reinstalling it was a major hassle. Most of the nylon screws either broke or wouldn't fit all the way back through, after numerous attempts. Seems to be poorly engineered. And the door where it was leaking isn't even facing in the usual direction of the wind/rain, so I don't know why it leaked so badly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! After only 2 years and flaps came off! I bought this door for a 9lb dog. After 2 years both flaps fell off. The company did send replacements at no charge but I have struggled to install both flaps. Working upside down, sideways and with no holes drilled it's difficult to line up and screw into correct alignment. Now I can't get the second flap lined up and the first flap is coming back out. I can't win with this silly thing. I wouldn't recommend this door. Compared to the last door at my old home after 13 years was still working with 2 dogs using it. This is the WORST door - Don't buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could easily be better Easy enough to install, but their use of nylon bolts is a downside. I understand it is so you can cut the excess away. But it probably wouldn't have cost any more (possibly a tiny bit more) to engineer the door to use metal hardware so it wouldn't strip as easily. The other issue I have is the "security" snap on door. Because it's snap on and not slid in or lockable, both my dogs have been able to push it off from the outside in. And the door is XL so it's big enough for a person to crawl through, so there is absolutely no security from a person entering standpoint. Other than that, the door works perfectly well for letting the dogs in and out independently, and keeping the heat/cool outside.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Old version better I have purchased my second Extreme Weather door for a second exterior door. This new version leaves a lot to be wanted in comparison with the previous model. It looks and feels a lot cheaper for the interior cut out of the door. The plastic frame and flaps are the same but the gap filler for the thickness of the door is just flat plastic with no side or bottom seals. I also have the older version that has a yellow insulated flap but it also came with a plastic space filler for the bottom of the door gap that let's the insulated flap make a seal as well as felt seals for the sides. Makes a much better air seal. Luckily the old version goes from my garage into my house and the new one goes from outside into my garage. I have tried to purchase weather seals from hardware stores but the flaps get stuck in twisted positions not having the proper sized seals. Cost saving cuts that the consumer actually needs and pays the same price for the door as previous model is my guess. Bring back the better seals and I'll purchase for future homes.
