Poor rewind mechanism
Rewinding the tape is very difficult. You have to turn the crank very hard and it skips.

DeWalt measuring tape quick recall works!
I bought this tape measure because my previous cloth one wore out. This one is metal, so it should last longer. It is very compact which makes it easier for me to measure and hang onto my clipboard more easily. The gear ratio is awesome, as it rolls up super fast. I have another one without the gear ratio and because it is small it is harder to handle and takes forever to roll it in. I had to get used to holding the measure by the back of the case to avoid the spinning handle as the tape plays out. The latch or claw at the end of the tape is small because the whole thing is smaller, which sometimes makes it harder to get it to hold onto the corner of vinyl siding especially when there is a gutter downspout near the end of the wall.

Brittle Tape
Buyer beware, the tape is very brittle and will snap if kinked even slightly. It doesn't appear that DeWalt offers a replacement tape cartridge to salvage the housing so it's a throw away if the tape snaps like mine did.
