Rated 2 out of 5 by from Confused... I bought some in February to fill in holes on my window frames after getting new windows/window treatments. I didn't realize it would not harden and assumed it could be painted when dry (which would be when I went to paint around the door once it was installed, which just happened in August). I got the new door and am about to fill the holes and paint it and read that it does not harden. The filled holes on the windows seem hard and dry (Plus it did not dry a white on the window frames... more of a light gray.) but can they be painted? Can I paint the door frame if I use this stuff? What is it designed for?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money!!! I bought this yesterday to fill some staple holes on a cedar mailbox. I went to check it a couple hours later and it wasn't hard. I got the jar out and in small print on the back it says does not harden. First of all the 4oz jars are so small the writing is even smaller. Put the does not harden warning in larger letters on the lid. Second why in the world would you even make a wood putty that doesn't harden and can't be sanded and then finished with paint or poly. I'm 70 and enjoy wood working and this is the first wood putty I've used that doesn't harden, it's closer to a glazing putty you would use on exterior window repair. Now I'm going to have to scrape the putty off and use a tiny finish nail or needle and dig it out of the holes to get a product that is usable. I have used minwax products for many years without a problem, until now. I know customer service will write a reply to my review stating that it says on the jar it does not harden, but maybe my review will save someone's the extra work and frustration with this product!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not use on floors The flooring contractor used this on nail holes in my prefinished oak floors. The putty is still coming off on my shoes after 3 weeks. I can't put carpets down since they will stain. My floors are just sitting there with some empty holes and smudge marks from where the putty smears. This product can't be used on a surface to be walked on. It is a mess.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from color match This putty is not color matched to all stains. When it dries it is much lighter than the stain it is suppose to match.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What good is it? Got this home to fill some imperfections, it says wood putty, but should say wood dough. It doesn't harden. I cant imagine a project i would ever use it on. NOT YOUR GRANDPAS WOOD PUTTY! JUNK

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do you believe in magic? This stuff should be renamed magic in a can. Cracks in floor just disappear!! Couldn't be happier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Early American does NOT match your Provincal stain I used your Provincial stain on red oak and none of your putty colors are even close to matching it. Early American putty is too light, it sticks out like a sore thumb. And your Walnut putty is too dark. Your color matching chart doesn't even look like it matches. I could see a limited selection if you were a startup but for a supposedly established company this is just lazy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not white The white version of this putty is ... well .... not white! Compare the contents with lid (which is white!). Becomes painfully obvious that the true color is dirty white, like it was white at one time, then someone with dusty fingers had their way with it while the putty is moist. Make a white one guys!
