Long-lasting, rugged and convenient
I've had two 10-499 knives for over 15 years each and have been very pleased with the quick-change blade mechanism and with the three-position blade extension. I've used it with standard and carpet blades with no problems. I also like that it easily retracts or extends the blade for safe use and storage.
After this long the only problem I see is that recently the spare blades have started to tend to work their way out of the holder into the interior of the knife, making it impossible to use the yellow quick-access button. I instead have to take the knife apart to replace a blade. I'm experimenting with whether keeping more blades in the holder helps with this.
I also just used WD-40 to lubricate the interior of the knife because the blade extension mechanism was getting difficult. Now it's like I have a brand-new knife.
As an inexpensive and rugged utility knife this is a great one.

Great utility knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this utility knife on nearly every project I’ve ever done. From opening packages, unbundling lumber; cutting shingles, to marking cut lines when I’ve lost my pencil. This is an absolute essential tool for everyone’s box.

Awesome
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own multiple of these knives so that I can have them handy everywhere. I love how you can store extra blades in it and it is so easy to change the blades.......no tools required.

decent knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used these off and on for years. They're a solid knife. They fit well into most tool pouches and use pretty standard blades, which is nice. The extra blade storage is extremely nice, especially when working with gypsy wallboard or something that takes a toll on blades frequently. They are solid and I can't remember a time when they failed to hold a blade in cutting position for me or when they accidentally opened in my pocket. The only complaint that I have for them is the fact that the blade storage occasionally pops open in a pocket and drops blades. Normally it only happens when I am fairly active but it can be hard on pants pockets.
