Will chip/shred, but a lot of effort to make work
It does what it says, but I find it easier to just burn the piles. As others have said, getting sticks down the Shute takes a lot of time and effort. I caught myself being tempted to reach in and push the stalled brush down to blades. Do get a 2-3 ft long 2x4 to push brush down Shute safely (and unless your limbs are realtively straight, you WILL have to push them down the shutes).
My guess this would work best for leaves that you could just dump in the big hopper, and the occasional twig. I live rural, so most of the time now I just burn and leave it in the shed.
It’s utility is a little anticlimactic if you expect results like the big ones the tree crews use, but it will work. For me it just adds more work making it work.
Mine started first pull after years of storage, but that is a factor of draining gas or running dry end of the season. TB doesn’t not make the engine, so engine problems are not their design issue.

Unimpressed
After borrowing a neighbors shredder. I decided to purchase the same model. What a disappointment. It looks as though the unit has been cost reduced. The old model had an extended dip stick making checking and adding oil easy. The new one does not have the extended dip stick making it much harder to perform these tasks.
The engine manual that came with the unit doesn't match the unit. It is a generic manual for several different models.
I wish that I could have seen the current model before ordering it. There was none in stock anywhere near me. Silly me thought the new unit would be like the older unit.

Good and bad
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this model for several years. It does a great job if you don't rush the feed of leaves/wood. I agree with other reviews that it is a chore to unjam the feed shoots, but the jam is usually due to my impatience. It definitely is difficult to work on. I've had to replace the shoulder bolts and nuts twice in the impeller mechanism and it is cumbersome with what you have to remove to just get to the parts. The access to the shoulder bolts is from both sides of the machine and requires simultaneously holding a wrench on the nut on one side and an allen wrench on the other side after removing the feed shoots on both sides. I think its best use is for pulverizing leaves which is my primary use. I also had to replace an engine gasket once. Plan on spending some time.

This thing is a beast! :)
Moved here 15 years ago and planted 125 evergreen trees of 5 different species. It was time to trim up the lower branches for air circulation and visual appeal. I cleared all the branches up 24 inches from the ground. Most branches ranged in the 1"-2" range averaging 8-9 branches per tree, and 24 to 36"'s long, that's around 1,000 branches! The pile was the size of a small bus!
It took about 4 gallons of fuel and about 9 hours to chip/shred the entire pile with the help of a neighbor kid handing me branches. The pile (reduction) as stated elsewhere is about 1/10 the size of a small bus now! Put something under the discharge chute like plywood or a heavy rubber mat to prevent the thing from digging a hole with the discharged chips.
The only stoppages were from trying to force some branches at the beginning. And yes don't stop the machine or let it run out of fuel with debris in the hoppers.
For starting follow the owner's manual!
Smiles,
John
From the beautiful Pacific Northwest
P.S. I bought the thing used and the previous owner said he only used it for about 10 hours. And yes the muffler shield did vibrate loose!

Stick to lawn mowers
I had one of the old 8hp chippers back in the 90's. It makes this one look like a toy. I just started using my today, and it basically is useless. The oil check/fill is almost impossible to use. I was chipping pine, and at 2 inch diameter, it jams up every time. The hopper is totally useless for anything other than leaves. Go back to the old ones with the belt drive and clutch. The little job I started today would have been done in two or three hours with the old machine. With this new one, it may take five or six days and I will have to find a different way to get rid of most of the material that this machine is claimed to be able to handle.

Works fairly well but...
We bought this CS in February 2020. We've used it three times so far. Today we noticed a crack in the large brush chute down near the cutting chamber. It was about an inch long. We restarted and did a few more branches. After shutdown we noticed that the crack had grown another inch. I think we're going to need to get this resolved before further use.
The unit seems to vibrate quite a bit. When I say vibrate it's to the point (during the last couple of uses) where the vibration causes the throttle to decrease and which is probably causing the crack.

Hard Starting & Dangerious
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unit was, from day one, hard to start. Long chute doesn't work well for my branches since they are all curved from snow loads. Large hopper jams constantly. Somehow a branch with a 3" hard knot destroyed the unit sending one of the small cutters out the bottom of the unit. No shear pin on the motor to impeller so nothing to keep it from destroying the entire impeller assembly and housing.
