Rated 5 out of 5 by from a must for starting your own seeds I bought two seed starting kits and one heat mat, the one with the heat mat came up twice as fast and were much healthier

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have! If you want to give your seed starting a boost you must get one. I got started late this year but am catching up fast because seeds sprout faster

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heat Mat works great! I added my flower seeds to my seed pods, on a Sunday. The seeds were supposed to germinate in 8 to 10 days. By Wednesday night, half of the seed pods sprouted. I bought the mat that is large enough to accommodate two starter trays. I have been toying with the idea of buying a heat mat for several years. I wish I would have done it sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great! I bought this in spring 2016 to start seeds for the first time. I started them in an enclosed porch area that wasn't heated or insulated. I live in northern Ohio, so it stays cold until April; in fact, it actually snowed in May this year. The mat worked wonderfully to keep them warm until the weather warmed up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT SEED GERMINATION BOOSTER! I have been starting seeds that need a longer growing season indoors for several years now as well as nectar plants and the results using your seedling heat mats are PHENOMENAL!! I started some seeds the other day and, no kidding here, the seeds started germinating in TWO days!! I DEFINITELY credit the seedling heat mat for this fast germination! As a matter of fact, this is the first time that I can recall where I had germination THAT fast since using your heat mats! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND seedling heat mats if you are going to start seedlings AND to root cuttings indoors!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect warmer for seeds needing more heat I got this a few months ago to start seeds that need more heat to germinate. Most of the cooler seeds have no problem at this point but the warmer ones do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seedling Heat Mat I tried using the heat mat for the first time. It helped me start my garden earlier this year by planting seedlings from seed. It will save me money in the long run because I like to plant lots of tomatoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MAGIC Seeds germinate much faster and seedlings grow strong root systems more quickly. Amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything it said it was. Not too hot; I can leave it on whether I'm home or not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good size, easy to wipe, temperature After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this mat. Keeping seeds warm in a 60 degree basement is difficult I learned. The mat seemed to be the best solution & it was. Seeds sprouted , were warm & seedlings are thriving. Good purchase tho I do wish it was made in the US.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from unbelievable! after many years of starting seeds at room temperature, I decided it was time to spring for heat mats so I bought (2) 3x20s...planted the seeds this Monday (2-1-16) and by yesterday (2-4-16) I had 12 out of 24 seeds germinated...I'll attach pictures which will show you what I did better than I can explain...in years past it would always take 10 days or so see any results...I usually start my seeds 10 weeks before schedule planting...I think I may have started these too soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seedling success with a heat mat For years I started seedlings for my garden in late winter and for years they were spindly and weak when I went to plant them, when they germinated at all. Adding fluorescent lighting helped, but the plants were still not robust. So last spring I bought a Heat Mat and found my seeds germinated and grew rapidly with the addition of root heat. The seedlings were robust and I had so many tomato plants that I supplied my friends. I was so pleased that I bought another, larger heat mat. The mat itself seems well-made, is light weight water resistant. The instructions for use are printed on the mat itself. A second use: as a heat source in making yogurt

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product I have two heat mats. One is 10x20 and other is 48x20. Pleased with both. I use them mostly for the summer plants, such as eggplants, tomatoes and peppers. Plants do grow a lot faster using the heat mat. The same kind of plants, left outside in a pot are clearly lagging behind in growth. Overall, I am pretty pleased with this. I recommend this to all the serious home gardeners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just as promised! I had long been deterred by the $39.95 price tag on this mat, but now that I've bought it I'm so glad I did. It gives a good 10-15 degree increase in heat, evenly distributed across the mat, except at the ends (the short sides of the rectangle) which stay a little cooler. The 20 degree increase promised in the description might be a bit of a stretch. Nonetheless, it gives an immediate and tangible benefit to the seedlings, which sprout faster and more vigorously. It makes germination a lot more fun! On the product packaging, it mentions that you should put an insulating layer between the mat and the surface it's on; a cold surface will suck up a lot of the heat. For this, I recommend keeping the box it comes in, not only is it just the right size, but air is the best insulator of all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised! I was under-whelmed when I pulled these mats out of the box, but they are really great! They improved germination dramatically and maintained the soil at just the right temperature without a lot of monitoring on my part. I'll be using these season after season without hesitation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great help in starting seeds inside This is the 3rd year we've used these mats (large size for 2 years). They have greatly increased not only germination but also early growth. We use them with florescent lights to raise seedlings in our basement. Initially we used the same timer for both the heating mats and the lights. The only concern we had was that soil temperatures could get into the 90's which was hotter than we desired. This year we added a thermostat for the mats and hold the 'day' temperature in the 76 to 80 degree F range. Germination with this set-up has been very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Im so happy I bought this mat1 I like to start seeds indoors and decided to purchase this heating mat. I am thrilled with the purchase and only wish I had gotten the bigger one. I started my tomato seeds three to four days ago and my heating mat just came in yesterday. I set the flat up on the mat and just this morning and about 90% (out of 72 planted)of the seeds sprouted overnight. I would recommend this mat to anyone who grows indoors and I will probably order the bigger one soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST! Last year everything germinated so slowly. This year I bought a seedling heat mat. Unbelieveable! Basil, tomato, eggplant seeds germinated within 4-days. Pepper plants germinated and sprouted within six days. So far, no damping-off. I will amend this rating with another review if damping-off occurs. I home to be harvesting tomatoes in July, this year (2009)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for seed starting I've had trouble with starting certain types of seeds . . . but with these mats, I just plugged them into a timer to run during the night. I rarely have any issues now with seed propagation. They slide easily under the flats (10 x 20 size).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Germination Galoire! Since I start my seeds in a cold basement in winter, I decided to purchase the 48" x 20 3/4" seedling heat mat in Winter 2008 to see if it would help with faster and more effective germination. The mat worked beautifully! I have never had such success in seed germination before using this mat. I was able to squeeze four mats and part of a fifth onto the mat (rotating them all from time to time to equalize time on the mat). Within 48 hours, about 50% of my seeds had started sprouting. By the end of a week, a total of about 85% of my seeds had begun germinating. Many of these seeds were two to three years old, and I hadn't had much success with them in previous years (even when I first bought them). I thought the seeds were just of poor quality. When it was time for planting in the spring, my plants were stronger and larger than any others at that time during previous years. I always start my seeds and plant my plants at the same times every year, including this past year when I used the heat mat. I did not measure the temperature difference between flats on the mat and flats not on the mat, but I could definitely feel the temperature difference when I put my hand under the heated flats. These flats were definitely much warmer than the ambient air in the basement. I did not use a temperature regulator, but germination was still quite successful. Adding a little heat using this mat solved a lot germination problems for me. I would recommend getting a seedling heat mat to anyone who starts seeds in a cooler room or basement. If you start a lot of seeds, purchasing the largest mat is definitely worth the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great In my zone, a heating mat is a necessity for pre-spring seed starting (it's March 19, snowing outside right now, and energy is too expensive to keep the house at 75 all the time!). This mat did the job -- my seeds have already started sprouting, and they've only been in the soil for 3 days. Good purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! I've been gardening for well over 10 years and I have found this product to be an asset in my gardening supply. For the beginner to the expert it's an amazing product. If you're serious about seed starting as I am you may want to purchase a temperature regulator for this mat along with any others. The speed in germination is awesome and it works very well with growing on seedlings. I have 6 of these mats I use for seed starting and even use them in my greenhouse during the cold winter months to help regulate temperatures of my vegetables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from seedling heat mats I have a cool, older house and last year when I planted tomatoes and pepper seeds in flats in the living room(no heater),they didn't germinate until 4 or 5 weeks later. I thought I had bum seeds, but it was just cold. So,this year, I got one heat mat for one flat to see how it would do. Well, I planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, squash, zucchini, and cucumber seeds. 1 day later, the cucumber, squash, and zucchini had already started peeping up out of the soil! I could not believe it!!! That heat mat is the best thing I have ever bought. I will buy it again for next year. Thank you Burpee!!
