White Fly Eggs in the soil
I lost several plants this year to white flies after potting them in the Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. A refund or how to get rid of them in the soil would be an appropriate fix.
I have never had problems in the past but am now hoping that the rest of my plants don't get infected and I have to dispose of them.

What are these?
I love this product but noticed these small round balls , like eggs / lava in the latest bag I bought . What are these ? Will they hatch and eat my plants?

Fungus gnats and root rot
Horrible. Like many others here we immediately had a fungus gnat infestation, and the soil hardens on top while staying damp down below, leading to root rot. Killed most of my plants.

Do gnat buy this!
I have trusted Miracle-Gro products for 50 years! But not this one - not ever again! Two huge bags of this potting mix to plant 4 indoor green plants (philodendron), and they were all soon infested with fungus gnats! The other dozen, yes a dozen (or more), indoor plants were gnat free. We tried not watering, sticky sticks to catch them (aplenty!), soapy, and other sprays - no luck. We moved them to the garage for a week and just today replanted them after soaking them down to the roots to rid them of any trace of this potting soil. What a disaster.

Another once great product no longer worth buying.
have used Miracle Grow Potting Soil for 40 years. Was a great product. Now we can only find Potting Mix. Worst product I have ever bought. Full of tree bark, mulch and nothing of nutritional value. Won't be buying this over priced product again.

Won’t buy again
I purchased this product in the spring. I have used this type of potting soil for many years and for the first time I feel it gave the plants I repotted mealy bugs. I realize they can be caused by overwatering but these were indoor plants I had for years and I didn’t do any differently that I did in previous years. It has been more than 25 years since I had an issue like this and to make matters worse I lost plants which were 10+ years I cannot replace.

Soil my plants thrive in!
I use many different brands of soil (including mixing my own) and this is among the top picks. I try to use soils without peat or peat moss to be more conscious of the planet, but this is a great pick, too.

Not recommend
I bought this product cause it was available when I purchased all my plants -money tree, lemon trees, multiple flowers, fig tree…- I spent a lot of money on my plants and got specifics soils for the different plants, all my plants died. I thought it was the harsh condition from where I live. I replanted my money tree, who was somewhat thriving, and couple days later, gnats and roots started to rot. Couple weeks later the tree ended up dying. I didn’t know what it was, until I saw all these reviews that had the same problem as me.

Don’t buy
Purchased moisture control and since you changed the soil our house has been infested with gnats. We thought it may have been plants others have given us and my husband has sprayed every other night for a week to rid of them. I also put out small containers of apple cider vinegar with dish soap and it looks like we got 99%. There are a couple of full bags in boxes right now.

GNATS and GNAT larvae!!
Last fall I planted all my houseplants in Miracle-Gro potting mix. A few weeks later little black knats were flying around my plants and subsequently around my house. I battled all winter to eradicate the gnats from my plants and home. Thinking it was a random plant that had gnats that caused the infestation...this fall, I once again repotted all my houseplants in Miracle-Gro because I thought it was the best available. Ten days later, my plants had gnats flying around them!!!! It's the Miracle-Gro!! I dumped out ALL the Miracle-Gro soil, and visited a local plant nursery to purchase a higher quality soil. Then I took two lunch hours to once again replant ALL my houseplants. Don't. Buy. Miracle-Gro potting mix. Read all the reviews and spare yourself the gnat headache.

Holds way too much water
I bought this to repot a very large peace lily into 2 new 11 inch nursery pots. I have always liked miracle grow for plants, but I have never used moisture control. My plants were already in 11 inch wide nursery pots. In my old soil the plants required 1 quart of water every 10 days indoors and they flourished. When I repotted these I added 1 full quart of water to the new mixture since I had let the old pots dry out to easily break the plants in 2. Oh my…I could barely lift the pots into their baskets. Some of the water made its way through and I had to empty the baskets out which meant lifting the pots once more. 2 days ago I just put them in the bathtub to drain. Water is still coming out! I’ve now moved them on to a stack of papers to be able to clean the tub from the brown stains water. They have saturated the paper so I guess I’ll need to put them in the tub. At this rate it could be six months before I can water them. Of course since it is holding all this water the plants seem to be suffering. As soon as this dries out I’m repotting into regular potting mix. I’ll dump this into my outside soil to help the veggies instead. For this reason I am only giving it 2 stars for the miracle grow name and mix quality. But not for moisture control.

The Worst Potting Soil!
I have been using Miracle Grow for years. I grow indoor plants . I noticed that the formula had changed and there was just too much bark, wool, etc., in Miracle Grow.
The last bag of soil was infested with Fungus Gnats. Infested! I read the excuses Miracle Grow gave for these fungus gnats and it’s all baloney. They changed a formula that worked and now their products are only good enough for the land fill. It is some of the worst product being sold for gardeners of indoor houseplants.
I’m going to research and try to find a better, non bark non compost potting soil.
It took weeks to kill those gnats. Until I found the bag of soil I had purchased was the cause of the infestation. I killed hundreds of Fungus Gnats and I had to throw out 6 of my plants. I tried every single thing that was listed online to kill them..I even sterilized the potted soil.
That dud no good because of the closed bag of potting soul was infected…I did not know about this at the times. Weeks and weeks of these damned bugs. That bag was discovered to be the problem and it was thrown out. After that, my apartment is finally gnat free. I stopped watering my plants for over two weeks, put out cups with fruit juice and dish detergent. Little buggers are dead.
I will never, ever purchase Miracle Grow soil of any kind. I will never purchase any brand of soil with bark, wood, or compost added. Never again. Miracle Grow is losing a lot of customers.

Disappointed and angry
Bought 16 1cu Garden Soil, and 4 2cu Potting Mix. All of my plants and vegetables died. So angry to find out this was a common problem with people who used Miracle Gro this year. Lost hundreds of dollars. Not the quality of prior years.

Dead plants.....DRY SOIL
I am so disappointed in the Miracle Gro Potting Soil Mix. I have grown beautiful container plants for 20 years on my backporch. This spring I cleaned out my large containers and put in new Miracle Gro Potting Mix. My plants died. I orginally thought I had a bad batch of plants. I purchased new plants. After they failed to thrive, I realize that the soil was literally repelling water. An inch below the top of the soil was a dry as a bone. I redid these same containers about 3 weeks ago (replaced the spring potting soil with new bags of Miracle Gro) and planted new fall plants. My plants are not doing well even though they are consistently taken care of. Today, I dug below the surface of one of the pots just seconds after watering it. The soil was DRY even though water had run all the way through the 20 gallon container. I am out 100's of dollars between buying plants and bags of Miracle Gro this year. It will truly be a MIRACLE if any of the plants survive much less THRIVE.

Don't use!
I purchased a 50 qt. bag and repotted 9 plants. Within days I had tons of tiny black bugs called fungus gnats all over my house! I tried the 3% hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water on one plant first and it killed the plant. I don't know how to get rid of these bugs and I would NEVER use this Miracle-Gro potting mix again!

Woody soil with gnats
I generally buy miracle grow for container gardens, in ground gardens and potting soil. Each time I bought it at I had a miracle grow rep take a picture of my cart as I had each type. Unfortunately in 2023 I noticed each type of soil having a lot of wood chunks. We also had tons of gnats after repotting to miracle grow. I am not sure what happened but it does not seem like the same products in years past.

Excellent soil!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to replant one of my pots with this potting mix and place it side by side with one that I didn’t change the soil. The plant with the miracle grow not only looks better, but has had more growth than the other plant. I will definitely repot more of my plants with this mix and I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family.

Way too many big pieces of wood!
I have used Miracle Gro potting mix to start all my veggies for decades! It is not what it used to be at all! It really sad that the tiny seeds I am trying to start struggle because the tiny seeds do not have the contact with the soil because of the large size of pieces of wood! Bags are very inconsistent, you never know what you are going to get.

Heartache!
This soil is way too acidic for growing anything! We used 1/2 potting soil and 1/2 garden soil as recommended by Miracle Grow for our raised beds and everything turned yellow, pests are abundant and there are pine trees growing in it! We filled another bed with the same 1/2, 1/2 mixture of Jolly Gardener brand, the same vegetables, and that bed is beautiful! I will never buy Miracle Grow again. Buy the cheaper option and save a lot of hard work and heartache!

Top soil in potting mix bags?
I just recently (August 2023) bought two bags of the big yellow bag potting mix 2 CF. It was nothing like the original version. It was more like a top soil, sandy, and heavy that I couldn't use it for my hanging baskets. Was this a mistake and I should return these bags?
