Rated 5 out of 5 by from Substantial Upgrade over 22-year old screw drive I installed this unit myself yesterday after my 22 year old Genie screw drive broke this week. I am looking forward to having a battery-backed up opener with WiFi control. It's rare that our power has gone out, but it probably happens about 1-2 times per year due to weather, and it will be nice to continue to be able to use the opener when that happens. Even more so, I am looking forward to using the Wifi functionality, and being able to double-check the status of the door when away from home. The installation went fairly well. I used the BILT 3D Assembly instructions. The biggest problem I had was assembling the rail & motor "U" bracket. It was difficult to zoom into the parts to determine which side was upI think the solution should have been a small "this side up" sticker on each rail segment. The confusion led me to install the U brakes upside down, and it took a while to figure out how to bend the correct tab to release it and then reinsert correctly. The only other problems I had with the instructions were that the audio stopped working a few times. Restarting the app fixed that each time. And my final comment is that the 3D model is very close to the actual parts, but not exact. Some screws and smaller parts did not match their exact shapes, and the part colors didn't always match, but in general the BILT 3D app was very simple to use and made the process easy to understand and prepare for installation. My actually installation took longer than expected. Removing the the old opener took longer than I expected, and the only hardware I was able to reuse was the wiring. I had to adjust the mounting brackets on the ceiling as this new opener needed to be about 6 inches lower than the old one, and I also needed to replace the center for vertical reinforcement with a 3rd party model because the supplied door bracket was too wide to mount on my existing vertical reinforcement. Once all the brackets were adjusted, the opener setup proceeded quickly and without incident. The protector system sensors were easy to install and align. As I said, I was able to re-use my existing wiring and just spliced it to the sensors and main door control. Programming the travel and testing the reversal & protector system also went smoothly. The area that I had difficulty with was connecting to my home Wifi. I have a home mesh Wifi and have good strong coverage in the garage, but no matter what I tried, I could not connect to my main network. The myQ app did not offer any useful hints for how to troubleshoot the problem. In the end (the next day), I solved the problem as follows: I suspected the problem was either the Wifi mode (frequency), security method, or password. So I started by enabling my guest network and disabling 5GHz. That did not solve the connection problem. Then I tried disabling security. That solved the problem, as the MyQ was now able to connect, however I did not want an unsecured network. So then I deleted the opener and tried again with security set to "WPA2-PSK [AES]" only, however that did not solve the problem. Then I tried changing my Wifi password. That solved the problem! I have run into similar problems with older devices and security modes. For some reason, not all passwords are equal. I recall a problem long ago when using WPA security that only 13-character long passwords authenticated on both my Mac & Win devices. So I figured something might be similar here. My original password had X number of characters, the new one I created had X-1 characters (one character shorter). I can't explain why that makes a difference in this case, but it did. Even though my phone & tablet could successfully connect to the original password, the opener would not, until I changed it to a shorter password. But it is working now and I am quite happy with it so far -- hopefully it will last as long as my Genie screw drive. A couple other comments: The drive is fairly quiet, but not much louder than my screw drive was actually. My screw drive also had a feature where it lifted at twice the speed as it lowered, I am going to miss that. The other thing I notice is that the belt seems to move around a lot. By following the install instructions, this new opener is much lower and closer to the door than my old one, and when the door is about 75% opened, the belt seems to oscillate vertically much more than expected. It seems to come within about 1-2 inches of the door itself. The spring trolley nut did snap into place, so I believe the belt is at the correct tightness, but it still looks looser than I expected. Also, the LED light is fairly bright, but not bright enough to light up my entire garage well. It is also odd that it faces away from the garage door. But I do like the fact that it makes noise. It beeps a few times prior to closing when using the myQ app to close the door (as a notification to anyone who might be in the garage). Overall, I am very happy with my choice. I saved about $1000 over having professional installation -- even though it took me an extra trip to the hardware store (for a new vertical reinforcement bracket) and I finished the install about 8 hours after I started (including the trip to the store).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So Loud. Shame on Chamberlain! The battery and MyQ are nice, but this model is WAYYY too loud for a belt drive. It's louder than the previous opener that was 20 years old. I have no idea why the motor makes so much noise, maybe Chamberlain can enlighten me because the bedroom above it now gets more noise than it did before. This should not be advertised as quiet - it is as loud as a chain drive and I feel doubly duped since I paid to have it installed through the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after two months. In limbo for three months. Bought this back in July and it worked splendidly for two months. Very quiet, has nice smart features, and looked really cool compared to other openers. Unfortunately, the logic board failed and I've been stuck with a busted opener for three months now with no end in sight as the part is out of stock with no ETA. I'm having to close my door with C-clamps to keep it locked. Reliability issues aside, the fact that a critical part like this on a new opener is unavailable for this long, with no option to just replace the opener itself under warranty, is totally unacceptable. I won't be purchasing a Chamberlain again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as quiet as it claimed I purchased this to replace my 17 years Marantec belt drive. This unit though claim ultra quiet , it’s still louder compared to my old marantec . I have it proffesional installed by lowes. I think the culprit is the metal piece to hold the opener it self. It came in pieces, instead a solid one piece. There is a whole lot of vibrations. When the belt passed one section and the other join piece in the middle . This product can be very quite if they have just one solid piece metal instead of few pieces . Also the light position which only light one section of the garage. The Designs can be improved by utilizing one solid piece of metal instead of few pieces join together, and placing the light on the side instead of front. Or back . That way light up the whole section of garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet This replaced a 30 year old Overhead Door chain drive that sounded like a T Rex. Super quiet & packed with features. The motion LED light is just enough until I need the main lighting. The AC motor & belt drive is what makes this unit quiet & efficient. Battery backup seems like a no brainer. No issues with the set up & love the remote access from the outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Quiet Read all documents and watched a couple of videos before starting assembly. Assembled opener on garage floor the evening before installation. The aging LiftMaster came down the next morning. I have an 8’ sectional door and added the extension kit. The old mounting hardware was already in place saving some time. Once everything was in place according to the instructions, the initial cycling of the door amazed me by its quiet and smooth operation. The LED light was more than adequate. All controls were programmed without issue. Both of our vehicles were programmed using myQ an seem to work well. One remote was programmed from about 130’ away and had no problems. My initial impression is that this was an excellent investment and I hope to have many years of quiet operation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These do not work at all. I purchased two of these when I moved into my new home to replace the 20 year old models that the house currently had. I liked how sleek and “high tech” these ones looked. I wish I would have never purchased them at all, both units have a sound range at all with the remotes (I tried all 4 remotes between the two units, including unlearning and relearning them) but they have no range whatsoever, unless I hold the remotes directly under the openers they won’t work at all, they do not work from inside my car parked directly below them and they do not work from standing directly outside of my garage doors. I decided to keep them regardless since they would work using WiFi and my phone… well that didn’t last either, on a weekly basis the openers randomly go “offline” and refuse to reconnect in their own or through the app troubleshooting, the only solution is to turn off all power to them and then turn them back on… this should be as easy as flipping a breaker but since they have a battery backup this requires me to get a ladder, unhook the battery and then unplug them from the ceiling. I did work with customer service when I originally had issues with the remote and they sent me out a 3rd opener to try…. Same issues. I wish I would have never purchased these and stuck with the 20 year old ones I was replacing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chamberlain B4613T Nice looking unit, very quiet, works with MyQ and Ring. For the person who said it was defective because the light was not facing the garage door, I found this to be the biggest improvement over the old openers. You dont nee the light in your face when the door opens. Its also great when you come out in the dark to get something. My spare refridg and storage cabinets for TP Paper towels etc are on the firewall so the light is perfect. Dont even have to turn on my garage light.
