My Favorite Grill
This is hands-down the best grill I have ever owned. Much easier to use than charcoal, but with more flavor. Almost as easy as a gas-grill, but again with much more flavor. I wish I had purchased this years ago.

Just buy it!!
Bought the Timberline 850 for husband's birthday 3 years ago. It's still his most prized possession of all time! I did a lot of research but when I read a review on here that said stop reading reviews and just buy it, I did!! Obviously, it benefits me sincerely because he's a grill pro now, everything is perfect, no more medium steaks for me when I ask for medium rare! I like to go big on his B-day every few years and now I'm in serious trouble, nothing can compete. Just do it!!

Best Grill I’ve Owned!!
The Timberline has turned my wife and I into bar-b-cue pit masters!! The ability to closely control temperature, the recipes available, and the flavor induced via super smoke are unmatched features for sure. BTW, also the best pizza oven on the block!!

The best grill.
Bought this grill back in 2020, BEST grill Iv'e ever owned. NEVER going back to propane or charcoal. As long as the hopper is full, you have full control of temps and the cook cyle. Makes phenominal pork ribs. Heven't figured out how to cold smoke in it yet, need to figure out how to get temps down to 80F to cold smoke fish.

Not Okay if Cooking Above 400
I clean my Traeger after every use. Shop vac it and put a new liner in it. Regardless of doing that my grill still becomes uncontrollably when it’s put over 400degrees. In fact the first time I tried I had a flash fire in the grill which damaged the back part of the smoker. As lang as it’s low and slow things are good but anything more than that is useless. As much as I paid for this you would expect it to work flawlessly.

1 Year In and Still Loving the Timberline 850
The Timberline 850 makes grilling and cooking easy to do with consistently delicious results. It smokes meat much better than some critics would have you believe (I say that comparing it to my Big Green Egg). Temperatures are easy to adjust and once you set a temperature, the Traeger does a great job of maintaining the desired temperature even in 20-degree weather.
Technology: The WiFi feature works flawlessly. If you have a solid home WiFi network (no interference or distance issues) then you will absolutely love the ability to control your cook from your phone.
Durability: I regularly clean the outside of my grill and keep an eye on the fire pot although it hasn't ever needed cleaning (despite the reminder message I'm greeted with every time I start the Traeger--it's a standard message you'll see when the system is booting up). The very back metal plate of the grill showed signs of paint peeling, but that's my fault--I had the unit too close to my brick wall at 500 degrees for many hours. A light sanding and some flat black paint took care of that little mistake.
Customer Service: I had an initial warranty claim (interior metal shield was warped upon delivery) and Traeger got me a replacement in two days without issue. The rep was very knowledgable and did a good job handling the issue.
While I do like my Egg for some types of cooking, I use my Timberline 850 more often. There is no doubt that if I had to choose one grill it would be a Traeger. I easily get 85-90% of the quality results of the Egg 100% of the time--and all I have to do is push a button.
This is my second Traeger in 10 years and I highly recommend it.

Poor build and design quality.
I purchased the 850 2 years ago and it’s been a love hate relationship. After a month the control board had to be replaced because the thermostat wasn’t working properly. The drip pan overtime becomes warped and I think this is the cause of improper grease drip removal which causes fires. The final straw happened about a month ago when the bolt (there are only 2 that hold the entire lid) snapped and despite multiple attempts to remove the broken bolt half that remains in the Traeger I am left with a lid that only is hanging in by one bolt. I’m dumping the Traeger and replacing with another smoker. The build quality at this price point is subpar. I find this issue to be a design fault. There should be a bracket along the back of the lid to carry this type of weight.
