Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upgraded from my Liftmaster I purchased and installed myself. The unit itself works great. Issues with programming existing Chamberlain remote - single button “Chamberlain Security” model 950CB. Apparently not compatible. Really annoying. Also tried to sync with a 2009 Toyota Camry Homelink system and that doesn’t work either. Also very annoying.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Insufficient supplies and poor product We just installed the opener and not only were we missing several bolts and bits from the brand new box and had to make several trips to the store, but the track is about 6” too short and our standard aluminum single car door doesn’t open all the way. There isn’t enough track to pull the door all the way open.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT INSTRUCTIONS I bought this because my old one was getting loud and I saw the wifi feature. I put it together quickly. The instructions are great.I am 80 and have back problems. So a friend helped me put it up. It goes great if you follow the instructions. I am going to have to get someone to help me with the wifi. I am sure thats because I am not good with that stuff. Even without it ,it is smooth, quit and works just great item.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice opener but couldn't link to my car opener I had an older Liftmaster (19 yrs) and treated me well. I got this unit since it was similarly configured to like the old unit. I was able to use the original rail and chain. I just needed to move the mount for the motor 3/4 of an inch closer and all aligned perfectly. I was able to keep the floor sensor as well. Took about 2 hours. Runs quieter than the old unit. The wi fi connect is a great feature. You can add 3 guests to operate it but i cou;d have used a 4th pot. Not sure why the limitation. Finally, my only disappointment is that my car (2012 Ford Fusion) controller (CAR2U) would not sync and could not be used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic replacement unit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to install and plenty of torque for a hurricane rated double door. It is an excellent assembly and WiFi control capable. I was concerned that it would not have enough power for a large door but Chamberlain has nailed it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great garage opener [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice garage opener, installation is very straight forward. They even have a installation video on YouTube walk you step by step. Total installation took around 3 hours, including taking down my old opener. Putting the tracks together took a little effort, other than that everything is very easy. You may want to get a little help when it's time to hang it. You may need tighten the chain a little more after the opener is mounted. The opener is not loud compare to my old belt driven opener. Setting up MyQ control is very easy, the app walked me thru it and it only took 5 mins to setup. I can control the opener even I am not at home, you can setup an alert if you forgot to close the garage door. There is a light switch on the side of the wall switch, the pic of the product never show that but it is there. I just wish the wall switch can be a little bigger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handles 2 Car Garage Door Well, Noisy, No Keypad This opener replaced a contractor-provided Genie opener that came with my sister's house seven years ago. The application is a two-car garage door, uninsulated, a basic 7' metal door. Incidentally, this is the fourth Chamberlain opener I have installed, and I have had a strong preference for the Chamberlain brand given the quietness of their belt-drive series, battery backup options, and WiFi-enabled openers. This opener is a chain drive, not belt, and it doesn't have the battery backup that their higher end openers offer. Nonetheless, it's not essential for my sister because, in the last seven years, the power has gone out only once for more than a few seconds. It includes one remote opener and a basic doorbell-style button for inside the garage. Chamberlain's higher end openers include two remotes and a larger button opener for inside the garage that displays the time and allows for custom settings right from the opener. This model's doorbell-style button does have a separate button on the right side for operating the light, but its position is a bit awkward and if you didn't know where it was you'd never know it was there. I thought this included a keypad for mounting outside the garage, but I was disappointed to find that it wasn't included. Since my sister works outside in the garden a lot, and has a young daughter that she's outside playing with all the time, the keypad was a must have, and so I had to purchase the keypad separately. Having installed several Chamberlain products before (all belt-drive models), I found the overall install of this chain drive model to be equally easy. The hardest part is removing the old opener. The "trolley rail" that runs from the opener to a mount above the garage door comes in several sections that click together easily and securely. Despite a length of over nine feet of rail, it does not sag. The included safety sensors are a breeze to put in, just a bit of splicing with the existing telephone wire used by the previous sensors. The metal brackets that attach the sensors to the door roller guides take literally seconds to snap into place, and the sensor alignment is a simple matter of aiming and tightening a wing nut. I did find a couple parts of the instructions to be vague, and one part of it was outright contradictory. In one place, it showed the chain run one way to attach to the rail trolley, and the next diagram showed it in the opposite direction. Fortunately, a bit of common sense helped me to understand which one was correct. Overall, for someone who isn't great with an installation manual, or who doesn't have prior experience installing a Chamberlain opener, they might find themselves stuck at a couple points. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit of revision to the install manual. The only notable issue I encountered during install was with the chain. The chain is attached to a length of twisted steel cable that runs through a guide wheel at the end of the trolley rail. After I connected the chain to one side of the trolley, and the chain to the other side, I went to remove the slack in the chain by tightening the bolt that attaches the chain to the trolley. After I did this, I found the chain was twisted about 45 degrees at the end opposite the opener, toward the end of the trolley rail that attaches above the garage door. The chain sat right on the cog on top of the opener, but it had this twist in it further down. I put enough tension in the chain that it wasn't at risk of coming off of the cog, but it just seemed like the twisted steel cable wasn't attached to the chain at the right angle to ensure the chain remained untwisted along its full length. After install, the procedure for programming the up and down travel is remarkably simple, and it can be tweaked with good precision to ensure the door goes up exactly as far as you want, and down the same. Pairing that extra keypad (the one I had to purchase separately) was also easy, taking maybe 30 seconds. Operationally, this opener opens and closes the door a bit faster than the old Genie model that is replaced. The speed of opening and closing is consistent along the full length of door travel. Notably, if your opener seems to accelerate as your door approaches full closed, you should check the spring above the door (most newer garage doors have this torsion-style, wound spring). The door shouldn't require a great deal of effort to manually open or close. An improperly wound spring will prematurely wear your opener motor. We also installed the Chamberlain app on my sister's iPhone and, within two minutes of creating a user account, we had the garage door opener paired to her WiFi network and connected to the app. I can say that this opener responds immediately to open/close commands from the app whether your phone is connected to the same WiFi network or if you're away from home on a cellular connection. I absolutely love this feature, and I found the app experience with this opener to be identical to the great results I've had with the other three openers I've installed. Having visibility into your door's open/close status from your phone is wonderful when you're laying in bed and wondering if you left it open or not. After using this opener repeatedly throughout the first day after install, my sister reports that it is significantly more noisy than the old Genie model that is replaced. Having experienced three prior, belt-drive Chamberlain models, I agree with her that this one is quite noisy. If you're like my sister, and have a five year old daughter whose bedroom is directly above the garage, this is quite problematic when her father gets home from work after she is asleep. At this point, the noise level is tolerable, but we will have to see over the next few days if the noise is too disturbing in the bedroom above. I'm at a loss to understand how this can be more noisy than openers I've owned that are 25+years old. It almost certainly comes down to the motor construction, and I'm guessing this unit's motor is the older (and cheaper) brushed-style motor with inferior sound deadening components. Overall, I have to give this Chamberlain model 3/5 stars. The other belt-drive models have received 5/5 from me. I'm withholding two stars here because (1) it doesn't come with a keypad, and (2) it's very noisy. If you don't need a keypad, and noise isn't an issue for you, I'd say this Chamberlain opener is a good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hey, nice garage door opener! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The installation of this garage door opener took most of the afternoon with the help of my brother and functions reliably. The quality build of this unit versus the older one this has replaced makes my garage more secure. If you are replacing an aging garage door opener and need a high quality basic replacement, this is a good choice. The WiFi capability is just icing on the cake and adds to the convenience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup and MyQ App is a plus! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The installation and setup of this opener was a breeze. Easy to setup and install and connecting to the home's WiFi for the MyQ app was simple. Love the ability to connect a smartphone to the unit to remotely open and close the garage door is fantastic. Really appreciate the ability to set alerts for when the door is opened or closed. This is great for times when we have family house sitting for us. I would recommend this Chamberlin garage door opener to anyone!

Everything worked exactly as planned as long as you go on the proper steps. Once installed it worked properly the very first time and the quality seems to be very very well done

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Connectivity of the MyQ platform is excellent [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Chamberlain provides clear instructions and and the installation was medium difficulty. You will definitely need a second person for several of the steps but the majority you can do solo. Once the install was done I moved to connecting the opener to my car via homelink and on the MyQ app. Both were simple and straightforward to setup. I really enjoy the notifications from the MyQ especially when leaving home. I often pull off while the door is closing, so through that repetition I have mistakenly forgot to close the garage. The notification saves me a trip also if I do forget I can go into the app and close it. Not only that the garage has a timer that closes it automatically. Excellent feature for me and my family. This is a great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement opener! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had to replace my garage door opener in my back garage. This garage is located about 300 feet from my house and putting this unit in with a built in Wi-Fi was wonderful. I no longer have to go out to the garage to close the door if I forgot to close it I can just use my phone. Installation was fairly easy as my husband is quite handy. Would highly recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Garage Door Opener [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garage Door Opener seems to be built very well and strong. No lag in pulling door or setting it back down. Could be a little quieter but thats expected from it not being a belt drive and the chain drive seems to be very durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Smart opener [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great to have an opener with WiFi built in. I was able to easily integrate this into my smart home setup. Was easy to install and programming was a breeze. Also surprisingly quiet for a chain drive opener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install Wi-Fi Opener [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new opener replaced a 19 year old Chamberlain opener and was nearly a bolt in replacement. I was able to reuse the existing ceiling brackets, safety sensors and wiring. This made the install very simple and quick, about an hour all together by myself. The header bracket and wall switch were the only parts, other than the opener itself, that I needed to change out. The included instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. Assembly was straight forward and simple for one person. Installing and adjusting the chain/cable while the unit was still on the floor simplified that task. Even hanging the opener was easily accomplished alone. It did take several attempts to adjust the travel limits and have the safety auto-reverse function operate properly. To have the auto-reverse work properly (with a 2x4 under the door) required the travel limit to go a little further than I initially had it set. As you can see in one of the photos, this results in the bar flexing and causes some slack/sag in the chain when the door is closed. More so then the old opener which had separate travel and sensitivity adjustments. Once installed and adjusted, configuring the wi-fi was as easy as opening the MyQ app and following the prompts to add a new device. I already used the app with a MyQ Home Bridge and MyQ Hub for my other two old garage openers that were not wi-fi enabled. Now all three openers are integrated into my SmartThings smart home application and part of my security system sensors. Overall, I am very pleased with the C253 opener and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wi-fi enabled garage door opener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really excited about the new c253 with My-Q Wifi And better security. Installation was very easy. Took me about 1 hour to include fine tuning. I did over look the fact I have a 8ft door and will need to get and extension kit for the bigger door. the kit looks to be reasonably priced . Over all so far I please with the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Setup [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product last week and spent 2 days installing it. The reason I took 2 days was because of the heat where I live. The first morning was spend inventorying the product, reading the instructions and building out the garage door opener. Since this was a replacement for my original garage door opener, I spend the second morning removing the existing unit then installing the new unit. For the most part, this was a one person job but taking the old unit down and putting then new unit in place took the assistance of my wife. Overall, the installation process was pretty straight forward. I already had an MyQ hub and adding the new WiFi enabled opener to the existing app was easy and without problems. I also didn't have any issues programming the Wireless Keypad or remote control unit. The instructions were simple to follow and extremely detailed. The only comment I have about the unit is that it is about 9 inches shorted than my original unit and the garage door does not go all the way up. One more bar section 1/2 the length of the others would have been helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently installed the C253 to replace an old Genie opener that I was using a MyQ to control. Instillation was easy following the included directions. Connecting the built in MyQ is much easier than connecting and setting up the aftermarket add on MyQ. I appreciate that the opener is much quieter than my previous model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with the features and ease of installation [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed easier then I thought. I have a two-car garage 20’ insulated door. This unit replace an older belt drive opener, it is a little louder than the belt driven but smooth. I especially like the WIFI feature and the Chamberlain app, the app is easy to use and setup notifies me when the door opens and if it stays open and, on several occasions, when I have left the door open while leaving home I can remotely close it. Another nice feature is I can schedule the lights to be on when I leave for work So, I have been very impressed with this opener. I do wish it came with a second remote.
