Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few features I'd like to see and a modification I like the trimmer. It does a good job and I haven't had any major issues. What I do not like is the small guard. I realize there can be some build up but the blow back onto my clothes is a bit much. Shouldn't have to wear chaps :-). the trimmer is prestty well balanced but still heavy with the 60 V battery. A shoulder strap would be nice. The bump head needs some work some folks have found (myself included) the Husqvarna T35 Tap and Go Trimmer head is a better replacement. It is not listed on the T-35 but it fits directly on the head. when I bought this I wanted to try the brush cutter attachment. It wasn't available. I see the heads are now available on a limited basis.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No manual on the product page? Seriously how hard is it to link directly to the manual on this page? Is that an unrealistic expectation?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice trimmer but needs a better guard I used the trimmer to trim and edge around my entire yard and still had half the battery left. It had plenty of power and did a great job except for one thing. I was pelted with mulch and gravel since the anemic guard provided with the trimmer is wholly inadequate. In the manual it states, "An extended coverage guard is available (sold separately) for extra coverage if desired. Use DEWALT replacement guard Part Number 90624357." Unfortunately, that is a non-existent part number. After quite a bit of searching, I determined the actual part you need is N512929. It installed fine and provides much better protection (see picture). Dewalt, please update your manual, so customers know what part to order. Even better, please include a real guard to save us all the hassle in the first place!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DeWalt's Failed Quality parts: The power and weight are good, however I have had to buy a replacement head 3 times. The spring eventually comes off, the plastic cover falls apart and disintegrates. Just poor quality to summarize. I really wish they would address this because everything besides that is good. Hard to justify the consistent expenses though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from almost perfect! as a person over 6', this trimmer is really comfortable to use though the user height doesn't seem to be adjustable. it has about as much power as a gas trimmer without the hassle of mixing fuel and with even a 6ah flex volt battery let alone the 9ah it comes with you're not likely to kill a battery unless you have ALOT of trimming to do but even then the charger it comes with is a fast charger. the only 2 drawbacks for me personally are price (which you get what you pay for) and the exhaust vent being at the trimmer head instead of at the handle which means you have to clean it frequently or else risk smoking the motor (takes about 5 minutes and is 4 flathead screws). without those drawbacks, this thing would be perfection but is still a product worth buying! great tool from a good manufacturer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dewalt 60V (DCST970X1) string trimmer Great product - plenty of power, good battery life, well balanced. As good as most gas trimmers. However, like to see two changes. The guard over cutting head is far too small. You are covered in grass and dirt after trimming, not to mention the potential safety hazard of flying debris. Would seem very easy to increase guard size. Second suggestion is to have a shoulder strap for supporting trimmer as you work ... vs just hold with hands/arms.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a very robust design. You need to keep looking while trimming grass that the vent holes remain cleared otherwise the motor will smoke out and you will end up having to replace a motor. Cleaning after each use would not be enough as debris will block the hole while using it, not a very robust design at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will never use a gas-powered trimmer again! The Good: Battery powered means that I never need to struggle with mixing oil/gas, hold onto the surplus until a hazardous waste dropoff day, or worry about my house/garage burning down. This thing turns on immediately and is much quieter than a gas engine. I've aLways hated weedwhackers but this has me genuinely excited to use each time and I want to show it off to my friends and family. I have a very small yard so I've never even used it long enough to go down one bar. With 6.0 amp hours, I have no idea how people are using up the batteries outside of professional work. If you're using it for that long, you're probably better off using a lawn mower at that point. The ease of pulling the trigger and lack of engine means you don't need to be running it the entire time. The bad: I am 5'9" and this doesn't let me slide the length inwards to shorten it like my father's old black and decker corded weedwhacker does. You should be tall to use this, or else, like me, you'll be holding it in at some funny angles. It's also very straight, whereas many weedwhackers have a curve which to me allows better control. I don't understand the decision here. At least the 20V tool Dewalt offers seems to have the ability to fold up, but this does not. I've also found I need to use the bump feed kind of often as the line it comes with breaks pretty quickly, and I'm not too sure if the bump feed works properly...but then again I've always had that problem with weedwhackers. You'd think at the Dewalt range, the engineers would have put more time into fixing the fickle heads that weedwhackers seem to have. The power of the tool matters little if you need to keep re-adjusting.
