First one lasted over thirty years
It seems like Selkirk should make these parts from stainless steel so they would last as long as the chimney they support - galvanized steel just doesn't last as long (the original rusted apart). This brace kit is reasonably simple to install but the instructions lack detail illustrations (and you must install the short bolts on the collar halves before inserting the long bolts). All parts and fasteners needed for installation were included in the kit - but - pre-assembly is a good idea - one of the holes in one collar half was too small - had to be drilled, not something you want to do while on the roof. Overall this is a good kit - when installed, it anchors the chimney very well - no fear of damage from high winds.
