Back to patch plaster
I was pleased working the material into a 3” plaster ceiling hole resulting from a light fixture replacement. A day later sanded the material and added a little vinyl sparkle for some minor spots. 12 hours later while finish sanding I noticed the fill seemed soft. Was easy to push my finger through the material and remove all of it by hand. Rather unbelievable.
I’m a fan of 3m products. For me this one was a miserable failure.

Help. Can't seem to add a second layer
I put a first layer on and let it completely dry. I need to add a second layer now and the product just falls off and won't grip well to the first layer. I can't find any directions on if I need to moisten the first layer again, or sand, or what. I was very happy with the way the product covered initially, but I cannot get a smooth cosmetic outcome without at least one more layer...

Great product 1 question tho
I’m using this to close a gap between a plaster wall and a new drywall wall. I’m a renter so larger reno isn’t an option. This is working great. I need to add a second layer though and it’s not sticking well to the now totally dry first layer. Any hints? Should I spray it with water first? Or do I need to sand before going for a second layer?

How long to dry? 18 minutes
Since 3M won't say, here's how to apply 3M logic to answering the question: 3M's "Patch Plus Primer" is "3x Faster" and it takes 30 minutes to dry. So, 3M's standard reference for how long "other products" take to dry must be 90 minutes. 90/5 is 18 minutes.
There. I said it. Mystery resolved.

Dries 5X faster than what?
Goes on pretty smoothly and can be sanded. The issue is the drying time. I realize the thickness matters, but an estimate for a 1/4 inch layer would be helpful.

Not like the video.
I read the instructions and watched the video. It all started out good applied the backer, then started to apply the spackle. The backer promptly fell in the wall I was able to retrieve it and tried again. This time once the spackle was applied I left it to dry. Checked on it and it had cracked all around the hole and the 2 sided tape is coming off at the top. No I wouldn't reccomend. Very disappointed.

DO NOT BUY !
Just bought this to patch a hole . Followed the instructions on back of packaging as well as watching the video . The patch plate stuck on at first and then fell into the wall only seconds later. This is not a product you should trust on home repairs. It’s a good idea but 3M did not get it right on this one
