Knob falls off every day
Do not buy this knob. I made the mistake of getting it and regret it every day as my knob falls off my door and locks me out. I really wish Kwikset stuck with the older design where you could just screw the knob together.

Absolute nightmare
Everything was going well until step 5 where the screws have to catch. I am following the instructions and the screws seem to catch, yet the knob keeps coming detached as I tighten the screws. I thought I finally had it until I tested it and the knob came off completely. Either the set is faulty or the instructions are unclear/oversimplified. If you're hoping for a quick, easy install, look elsewhere. I live with roommates and wanted to change my bedroom lock without drawing too much attention, and it's been an absolute nightmare and taken up an entire afternoon. There should be a video to reference, but I have found zero support or info online.

Installation of inside screws very difficult
I was replacing an existing door knob. Installation was going very well until I needed to attach the inside knob. Normally this is no problem but screws need to be attached to an inside part. I read the directions over many times but following them was very difficult. You need to twist counter-clockwise while push on the key level? Then twist clockwise while again push up on the knob while trying to line up the screws and tightening them. What happen to having the screws like the existing door knobs. I spent many minutes trying to follow the directions twist and hold the knob while trying to align the screws so that there can be tighten. What benefit is there to have the screws catch on the inside of the knob? This design made the installation much more difficult.

Worked fine until it broke and was replaced free
It was in use for about five years. About a year ago it stoped latching reliably. Sometimes the door would open later by itself. It seemed like the latch was not coming out with enough force to grasp the plate in the frame. I sprayed it and oiled it to no avail. Finally purchased an entire new assembly for the sole purpose of replacing the latch as I did not want to change the key. The package said "Lifetime Warranty" so I called the 800 number and the customer svc rep very happily sent me a free replacement latch. Very nice. Now I have a complete entry knob assembly for a future project.

Great feature
Love the smart key concept!
We have rentals and it saves on locksmith calls.
We used to change locks with every move out. Now we just rekey.
We have had failures but kwikset has stood by their lifetime guarantee and replaced the failed parts with new ones!
