I stained my log cabin 8 years ago. Have pressure washed it every year. I now think it needs another coat. Love this stain. I used it inside my house as well. It is still perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using a competitors brand for the last 4 years on my privacy fence . After 2 years it never would hold up it would start to peel. I tried the Cobalt mahogany Timberland oil looks beautiful on the privacy fence I
should have used this in the beginning and no peeling.

I recommend Australian Timber Oil - the BEST
I purchased the Cabot Australian Timber Oil a good while back and have been meaning to post my review. We got our Cypress fence redone after a hurricane destroyed the other one. After allowing time for the treated wood to dry I wanted to seal it with something that would last. After reviewing several products as well as speaking to a company rep, I decided to apply Cabot’s Australian Timber Oil. The Rep told me that Timber Oil was UV/Mold&Mildew/Weather resistant (what it says in the cab is Accurate). I wanted to give the fence a natural look without any tinting , that why I went with the Neutral. When the application was completed, We couldn’t be happier!!!! It’s exactly what we were wanting to achieve and the fence is gorgeous and holding strong. It’s been a few of years and it looks like it did when We applied the Timber Oil in 2020.

Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have used cheaper products in the past but this is the best that I’ve ever used. I haven’t had to replace any rotten wood since I started using it. Have had new deck for 6 years. I’m currently applying again to preserve it for a longer life.

Really Great Stain
I just finished staining a 17-year old fir deck with Cabot Australian Timber Oil. The deck has been sealed and protected, but never stained, and was starting to show it's age. I used a 50:50 blend of Honey Teak and Jarrod Brown and was surprised by how much red undertones showed up. The deck looks good; I just expected a different color.
Dark colors are the way to treat an older deck. It disguises any age blemishes and gives you a rich look.
Unlike another comment, saying never use a roller, I applied the stain with a roller and followed it with a lambswool applicator pad and itt worked out just fine, with no areas with too much stain and no overlaps. But if you try to use a roller, you must follow the roller with either a brush or an applicator pad, otherwise there's no way to apply an even coat using only a roller.
Preparation is the key and my deck was pressure-washed (1200 psi), scrubbed with sodium percarbonate, brightened with oxalic acid, and allowed to dry for 72 hours before applying stain, and that was the hardest part of the staining project. But it was worth the work.
I have no idea how long the stain will last, but if the deck needs to be stained again, I'll never use anything else.

Exactly what I need to make my teak look terrific
I bought product 3457 amberwood which applied as an oil. I used three coats to get a matte finish on the exterior teak on my boat. It held up out in the sun and rain all winter and still looks terrific. I decided to buy some for my redwood furniture and found the same at my hardware store. Same can, but clearly different product. This was 19457 which has water something. Didn’t apply as nicely; hopping for best. Nothing on label indicated this was different from the first product. Later I found the two codes. I don’t see these two separate products listed on the website.

Very Disappointed from
Very Disappointed
When trying to choose the best stain for my deck, I researched several different brands and Cabot had the best product for what I was looking for. I purchased and had the stain applied by a professional approximately 1 year after my pool deck was built. This was the first coat of stain ever applied to the deck. After 3 months, the stain started to peel on the floor of the deck and continues to peel as of today. The floor deck area out of the sun and the railings continue to look good. The floor deck in the sun looks absolutely terrible. As expensive as the stain was, I expected it to look a lot nicer and last a lot longer. I have to contract someone now to strip the floor stain so it will have an even appearance. It is very disappointing to know the cost of the stain and how long it lasted with a lifetime guarantee.

Very disappointed with the result
This is the first time we bought your product. We wanted to try oil product for our deck floor because we had bad experiences with other products before. We pressure washed and sanded completely the floor. We vacuumed it before to put the stain. We had 2 days of dry time and applied the product at the end of the day (not in full sun). We are very disappointed with the result. The product is not easy to apply. Where you have overlaps, it is darker and not nice at all.

Great Product for Chainsaw Carvings
I chainsaw care and have found very good results for my carvings that will be in the elements continually. With fresh carvings they will always crack. By using ATO, the oil can penetrate into the fibers and if cracks, no problem. If one uses a spar urethane on a carving, it can leave a hard shell and once the piece cracks, it will allow water to get in under it and mold and mildew. Honey Teak is my go to variety for my carvings of bears, eagles and owls. -Jungle Jerry Chainsaw Carvings, Central City, AR

Happy First Time User
Chose the honey teak timber oil for a brand new cedar deck. It's beautiful! It was so easy to apply, I used a paint brush and one coat on a warm evening. After work the next day, was totally dry, even, no stickiness at all. This is my first time staining a deck, so was very happy it was so easy to use!

Love it
I love this product and have tried many others. It looks beautiful after the deck is properly prepped. I apply it to my mahogany deck every 2 years. Yes, it is work but worth it. I get hot full sun most of the day and exposed to elements the rest of the year.
It is sold out in my area. Hope Cabot is still making it!

Great Product.Follow Instructions.Easy to Use
As a Painting Business Owner I have used this product for years. It is absolutely great and easy to work with.. I see some reviews stating there is peeling however most of them are on decks built with pressure treated lumber.. It is very essential to make sure the wood is completely dry as this is a penetrating stain and if the wood is wet it cannot penetrate and will result in peeling.. If used correctly this product will last for years.

Gorgeous finish
I used the Jarrah Brown on my power washed deck and it looks great! Easy application with brush. Not sure why people had issues with brush marks or unevenness in previous reviews. It worked great for me.

Looked great for a few months. Now it is failing.
I spent hundreds of hours sanding and preparing my western red cedar beams. I Then I applied the product )ATO natural color) exactly per the specifications. It looked great at first. Several months have passed and the product is failing where there has been moisture. Not sure what to do now so I would suggest to anyone considering this product: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE I DID.

One of the best but not for amatures.
This oil stain is fantastic, holds up really well in Nova Scotia weather. After reading the other reviews on here I can clearly say people are not prepping right or applying the oil stain right either. This is not a slap it on and let it dry product. It needs to be thorough blended on the deck and done one board at a time. Do not do multiple coats but keep it wet as you blend with more stain. This is meant to absorbe into the wood not sit on the wood so if the wood absorbs it add more then wait 2 minutes and then add more as the wood needs it. This is the second time I've used Cabot honey teak australian timber oil on my deck. The first time was 7 years ago and it held up amazing. No peeling like in the other reviews which is an indicator of poorly prepped or conditioned wood. The deck must be thoroughly dry and have had some weathering before prep. Sanded and reapplied to my deck this spring due to dulling and we wanted to spruce it up a bit and keep the deck lasting for many more years but it didn't need to be done.
