Rated 5 out of 5 by from great consistency Really like this wood filler A soft sponge like consistency, rather than the liquid products that are hard to use on a vertical surface. It will stay where it is put, and not run down the wall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT STAINABLE!!! I bought this product a few days ago and used it on a hand made picnic table I was given when I was 3 yrs old, I am now 32 and have a young son who is going to use it and it's still in really great shape (they dont make things like they used too) but there were a few splinter spots, and natural knots in the wood that I sanded before buying the stain and weather protector. While at the store I seen this product and thought it would be good to maybe help hold the table together another 30 years. So I used it in a few spots and to my VERY unpleasant surprise, when I stained the table, it now looks worse then before, as you can see, the spots where i used the "stainable" wood filler did NOT stain. This product RUINED an amazing piece of hand made work! Very upset nostalgic mother!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favorite wood putty I am refinishing a pair of old previously painted exterior wood doors. Besides filling holes, I needed to replace the old caulk in the crevices of the panels. This is the only stainable wood filler that didn't crack horribly. It was also easy to apply extra and sand down easily because it dries soft and saw-dusty. In this case that's a very good thing. I tested several fillers and this is absolutely the...least bad! It's not perfect but definitely head and shoulders better than anything else in the category. I disguised the lighter color of the filler by using oil paint to paint wood grain over the spots and, where I could, letting the colored oil varnish settle extra thick on those places.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Negative Stars My husband brought this home and very kindly filled all the gouges in a desk I am painting/refinishing. I so wish I had seen these reviews before he ever touched the desk. This stuff doesn't just repel stain, it repels paint as well. My husband feels terrible, and I'm at my wits end trying to salvage this piece of furniture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT Stainable! So I bought into the marketing that this wood filler was actually STAINABLE. It's NOT. I used it to do some repairs on some stained cedar wood columns on my front porch that had sustained woodpecker damage. I chose the product solely because it was positioned as stainable. Well, the product works great as a filler, but when I went to stain the columns where I had made the repairs, the product actually did NOT accept the stain. If it was possible to rate it at zero stars, I would.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from repels stain I agree with all the other negative reviews. The wood trim around my new door now has blotches where I filled in the nail holes and carefully followed sanding directions. I don't want the same standard response everyone else got. That just tells what I might have done differently to begin with. I (and, I presume, all these other unhappy customers) need specific advice going forward. Should I use a stripper to take off all layers of stain and the pre-conditioner, trying to get back to bare wood so I can start all over? Is there another suggestion?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Not worthy of the one star you are required to give to be accepted as a product review. Ruins your project by staining the wood. Not even a good wood filler. Doesn’t sand well, extremely gritty. Can’t tell you just how bad the product really is without upsetting Minwax moderators. Use anything else but this product!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t stain Horrible product. Get your stuff together minwax. Paint, stain, whatever it is doesn’t work to cover it. Ruined my project.
