Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was not impressed. I’m not finding any use for this. The unit overheats and shuts off for like an hour before you can use. I get maybe 20-30 min before it overheats. Not sure if I have a defective panel but I have to fool with it all day to even get something charged. Not worth the hassle. Maybe mine was defective though.. when it did work it worked well. The light indicators show strength of sun power. Love the sun dial to line up. Like that it has an onboard battery although I have never once seen it have the rated power.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to setup and use I was able to use this for the first time with the planned power outage in our area last week. We live in a sunny climate and I set it out in the morning and had to check on it throughout the day to keep dot in sundial cross hairs but it was able to charge my iPhone at the end of the day and it could trickle charge while gathering rays outside. I found this helpful and am glad to have it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable So I snagged one of these from Cairn Kitted and because I already have a battery that I really like, I let my 15 year old son snag this from the pile to use on our 50 mile, 7 day, backpacking trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. 1 - This thing works. Put it in the sun, plug in your device, charge device. We charged several devices over the course of the week in the back country with no issues. 2 - This thing stands up to a beating. The kid had it on the outside of his pack the whole time. It got tossed around, knocked into, dragged across the ground, buried in pack lines, and survived an hour long hail storm (under a rain cover, but those buggers still hit hard). I told the kid to do his worst as I was curious to see how it would stand up (and like I said, I had my trusty battery and didn't really need this panel). 3 - It still works. It weighs a couple of ounces less than my battery and it holds up to the abuse of hanging on the outside of a pack. At $80, you probably want to be a little more gentle with it than we were, but if you're wondering if it can hold up to a little wear and tear, it really can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing buy. Well worth it I found this product through a podcast and totally worth it. I took it camping with me and it was great for keeping my emergency phone charged and lightening the load.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Promising, but needs more powerful battery I read a review on here that expresses my feelings exactly: I love how fast the panel charges, and I'm always excited to use the sundial to get direct sunlight, but the battery output will barely charge my phone before it's dead and I have to put it in the sun again. I'm going to try to put the charge into my own portable battery to see if that helps, and I also don't know how to charge my laptop with it (which doesn't have a usb plug in). Overall, I think this is a decent personal panel for a first time solar user, and at a price point that is more accessible than others in it's same price / capacity range, but if you want to go from novelty excitement to practical application of solar power, I would recommend something with a larger battery and probably just a bigger panel overall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will not give phone a full charge For the price of this charger I was surprised at the amount of charge it would give my Samsung S7. From 15% battery it would only charge my phone to 52% before the power was depleted. It only has a 2200 mah battery so makes sense that it will not fully charge a phone with a 3000 mah battery. So before purchasing know that it will only give your phone a partial charge. As far as charging its own battery from the sun it is the fastest I have seen in that regard. Maybe 3 hours in full sun to fully charge the 2200 mah battery. For $79 they should really put a bigger battery on it than 2200 mah.
